Gray is sucking tonight for the Saints.

He may have a short mediocre baseball career, but too have 2 Grand Slams in short order is not done by too many, so, he can always look back at that.

So you are saying they left their Styx in the dugout?

I think he'll become a serious asset. He pitched well through about 70 pitches, then lost ALL command.

I mean IMO there’s definitely reasonable hope that he can become good. But the command challenges are real…been there pretty much all year.

No question. He has to level up. That's why I liked the INITIAL decision to let him work out of it. Then things escalated quickly. 😁

That's the final step from being a pitcher vs a thrower.  His stuff is good enough for AAA and many ML lineups because he can get batters to chase that stuff.  As stated earlier tonight, when the Phillies spit on all those chase pitches, he didn't have the command to get back in the zone.  I think he will do it.  He will have to trust his stuff rather than try playing off the junk.

What is Shelton doing, today. This is a team that supposedly wants to compete for a wild card. If he was going to use his best in pen today, anyway, as it appears he was, you have to pull Prielipp after the third walk, with a run in on a walk, and Bohm coming up with the bases loaded and having already doubled twice today against him. Now 2-0, in the 5th already, still two outs for the last 4 batters. A manager HAS TO PULL THE his pitcher. Especially in this part of the season. You have to. You only need 1 out to save the game. But no. Let him give up 6 more runs and then put your high leverage guys in trailing 8-0 for the innings, the work? Shelton is sleeping at the wheel.

Yup. One bridge too far. Maybe more than one bridge...

EDIT:  I would have done the real one, but I didn't want to take the chance of getting a strike on a meme.

I fear I have never been that happy to turn my TV off... I knew these next few series were most likely going to be Rough™, but I had not braced myself for this...

Hopefully we can get the W tomorrow! We've been swept so few times - let's keep it that way!

Shelton is Baldelli 2.0 right down to the goatee. No clue on pitching.
