    I was surprised to see that the 98-win Tampa Bay Rays had only 3 position players and 3 pitchers who produced more than 2.5 WAR this season. The consistency of the supporting cast was the key to their success. Proving that you don't need a roster full of All Stars to compete -- you need a roster full of contributors.

    A lot of scouts don't think he'll stick at SS in the big leagues. If he moves to either 3B or 2B, his defense should be rock solid. I think his hit tool is his strongest weapon and if he can produce 2-3 WAR with a boat load of doubles and 15-20 HR, he'll be golden.

    Despite his problem with issuing walks, Quick's WHIP compares favorably to any starting pitcher from last years staff in St Paul, except Kendry Rojas. St Paul may have a logjam of pitchers to open the 2027 season. Wondering if Quick will start in Wichita again and move up when a slot opens for him?

    I've been tinkering with a 25-man roster for 2027. It's included below. Remember that Marek Houston may show up in Minneapolis by the All Star Break, so that will alter some positional considerations. Also, if Yandy Diaz is not obtainable, I could be happy with Seiya Suzuki as our DH and Big RH Bat!     ABSOLUTELY this! He hit 12 HR in 116 games this year. If he's a 10-15 home run guy while providing Gold Glove defense at SS, hitting .250, producing 3.0 WAR and stealing 40 bases, will we still want him to "adjust his swing to create more loft?" Please.

    Very true. But it's a GOOD kind of complicated, for once. Maybe we don't want to sink million$ in a 2B like Arraez? A guy like Dubon would cost us half as much and buy us terrific defensive skills AND flexibility. He can play all 3 OF positions and bats right-handed. Or we trade for Jordan Lawlar and pay him less than 10% what Arraez would cost. Lawlar = SPEED and defensive excellence, along with a high ceiling as a hitter. We need to think ahead about defensive flex elements because the infield fills up nicely when Marek Houston comes to town.

    He's played 80 games at A and A+, and 60 games at AA. So really only the equivalent of one long season. Seems like 40-50 games in St Paul is the last hurdle, then bring him up for a stretch with the Twins. If he has to bounce back and forth to AAA a time or two, so be it. He turns 23 in April.

    2027 will be a fun year to watch the farm system. Can any of the following players take a BIG step towards The Show? Gonzalez, Lackey, Houston, Tait, Quick, Diaw, Kendle, Mendez, Tinney, Ross, Winokur, Gallagher, Bohorquez, Raya, Jiminez, Fragoza, Olivar, Soto, (Canterino)?

    Move Clemens to 1B. Acquire a bona fide MLB 2B who can also back up SS and 3B if needed (i.e. Mauricio Dubon). Sign Carson Kelly as our primary catcher for 1/3 what Jeffers would cost. Sign Yandy Diaz as the Big RH Bat in the middle of our lineup. I'm content with our pitching staff as it stands, but if we trade Ryan, get pitching in return.

    Yeah, I agree, it's not the payroll that will trip us up in '27. We'll struggle to win 75 games again because we'll make all the wrong baseball decisions. It's doesn't have to be expensive to improve this team significantly. But it will require shrewdness. That's what worries me...

    Dubon has won 2 Gold Gloves and averaged better than 2.0 WAR the last 4 years. Serious upgrade over Kreidler or Lewis. Maybe both of them combined! 😁

    Trade Royce for whatever prospect pitcher you can finagle. Move Kody to 1B. Sign Mauricio Dubon to play 2B (and back up 3B). He's won 2 Gold Gloves as a UT.

    What about Mauicio Dubon as a possible 2B signing? He's a defensive upgrade and can play SS too. Not much pop, but he also doesn't strike out much. Had a .321 OBP this year.

    Agreed. The twins had the right drafting template when they picked Buck. Let's snag a few more of these kinds of prospects!

    Pitching quality from Ft Myers up to Wichita is very questionable. Adding depth to our young pitching corps has to be a priority. Easier said than done, I understand.

    Winokur really needs to cut down the K's. Caden Kendle's K-rate isn't terrible, considering his power potential. Likewise Tait strikes out a lot for A+ ball, but slugs decently also. Jiminez looks like a K machine, even at A+ Lackey, in a SSS, struck out in 26% of his AB's, but walked more than he fanned.
