This sounds good in theory... But are they really going to gain more fans when the game of baseball itself is secondary to the podcast-like commentary?

My other question is are these 4 guys the correct choice to get younger demos? I mean, they were on early 2000's Twins teams when teenagers today were toddler age.

I don't guarantee success with anything I'm saying but I've got some experience in the area and you target the biggest piece of the pie. I don't believe that the game has to be secondary to the commentary... I believe that it should work together with it.

It's just entertainment... filling the spaces with entertainment.

Are these 4 guys the correct choice? Most likely not... the odds of nailing the 4 guys right out of the box are low but they did a decent job as a test balloon.

Like I said... there are improvements that need to be made.

There are hundreds (thousands?) of talking head sports shows and podcasts. There is one Twins baseball game per day.

I think they would work well as a “halftime show” but baseball doesn’t have halftime.

Baseball has miles and miles of space to fill.

That space is an opportunity to entertain.

The thousands of sports shows and podcasts don't have a baseball game running with it. I don't recommend taking my "morning show" comment literally. It's a reference point.

There is nuance.

I think it's good that they're experimenting at this time. Overall, I think this alternate broadcast is good as a novelty item during the season.

My concern is they're chasing a demographic that is going to be a tough nut to crack (Gen Z and younger). I ask my younger co-workers did you watch the NBA finals game last night? And their response is they watched (insert their favorite YouTuber here) 's live stream and saw them react to the game. I personally have zero interest in the Twitch live stream world, but that's where the younger eyes are. They would rather watch someone else attend a game and participate in the live chat instead of actually attending the game themselves.

Agreed... You can't have everyone.

You have to get as many as you can. The experimenting can find something which leads to implementation which leads to copy catting which eventually leads to another adjustment.

Baseball has made some nice progress picking up younger viewers and female viewers. They need it and they need more.

Overall though... we have some graphic changes to the traditional broadcast but the format of a PBP and a color analyst has remained since the 70's.

We have fridges with blue tooth speakers now, fridges that send pictures of the contents to your phone when you are at the supermarket. Everything changes. We vote for what remains by being consumers.

This is what happens when you have a real manager and coaches who know what they are doing. You win games you shouldn't because they are playing all 27 outs. They put pressure on the opponent's SP with good at bats getting pitch counts up. Even with 2 outs the inning is not over.

I must be in the wrong thread. I came here to read thoughts on the 6-5 game.

Twins took so many great at bats forcing Cleveland pitchers deep into counts. Their staff used over 200 pitches to get 25 outs. Roden saw 25 pitches and had two huge hits. If you come up from the minors you need to make an impression right away. Maybe the hits won’t come but you need to take good at bats. Well done Alan.

Nice debut from Mr. Roden.

I don't want to take away from the Twins win, but if I didn't know better, Cleveland these past two games have played like a team that is 20 games below .500. I still can't get over how in the 7th inning their relievers threw 14 consecutive pitches outside of the strike zone (only one called as a strike with zero swings).

Was thinking to myself a bit ago, Ober gets activated today, who gets demoted? ……. if Orze has options, he’s the prime candidate!

Thursday, Noon Central - just saw on MLB Network, Prielipp got put on IL for “elbow inflammation” ………organization can’t lie that much……….so, 10 minutes later it was due to a “blister”.

Either way, creative way to keep the current PEN guys & get Rojas on 26-man for a ninth reliever over the last 4 games before the Break.

Prielipp starts 2 games (one last night), at most, from June 28 to August 1st……rest up and get that blister healed.

Paredes can continue to start after the Break in the 5th spot with Rojas used as needed from the PEN. Makes great sense for next 3 weeks!!
