IMO, the most likely outcome is things get worse before they get better, and at this time next year they’ll be dealing the best they can with the fallout of TEN years of pretty much incompetent leadership. (And/or a prolonged work stoppage.) But, hopefully with a much younger roster, so there can be a somewhat realistic reason to at least HOPE things will get better. I agree. Leadership right now isn't any better than what we had.

He's one of the best 390 (30x13) position players in the world, and therefore belongs on an MLB roster somewhere. The issue is what his usage rate says about the rest of the roster. He's a low AVG hitter with spurts of good-to-very-good OPS. He can play several defensive positions ranging in quality from passable to pretty good. On a good team, that's a utility player. On a really good team, he might even be expendable. But with this bunch, he's been one of the better hitters. The fact that that doesn't bode well for the team as a whole isn't his fault; he's maximizing his abilities. But that doesn't change the fact that this team won't be meaningfully competitive until he's closer to the bottom of the performance ledger. They're different players, but it's the same general concept with Arraez. He's been pretty much the best version of himself this season, might even be an All-Star. But the fact that he's been their best hitter is a big reason why the Giants have been terrible. On a good team, he's a complementary piece setting up the truly valuable hitters. But you can't be a good team when someone like Arraez is your best hitter, just like you're not a good team if Clemens is getting starter-level PAs. It's not a knock on them directly, but their usage is a bellwether for the quality of your roster. Western SD Fan, USAFChief, Rod Carews Birthday and 5 others 7 1

They just won four out of five and took the series against the Mariners. Not much to like about this club right now. Your last sentence rings true especially for me as a lifelong fan dating back to the early 70s. Making matters worse is living in the KC suburbs surrounded by listless bandwagon Royal fans who are taking winning 3 of 4 as a sign their ready to get back in the division race. Knew going into this season it would be miserable, but this last series seriously ticks me off as I see VERY LITTLE energy, life and fight from this group. Too old to invest any of my time to an ownership group that doesn't care. Also, pretty fed up with far too many players that accept losing with nonchalant demeanor. thelanges5 and IndyTwinsFan 2

Morris, Adams, Paredes, and even Prielipp would fit this definition. Some, or all of them, should likely be sent back down to St Paul when Abel, Sands, and Ober are ready to come off of the IL. These pitchers eventually being sent back down doesn't necessarily mean that they didn't do a good job. It is more of a just a learning curve that will need to be addressed before coming back up and hopefully be the pitcher that they had expected. I am in the optimist camp with these pitchers although it doesn't look good now. I would rather have these guys up and in the bullpen than when the next Luis Garia pops up on the waiver wire. Well, I agree with you to some extent. Neither Adams nor Paredes has anywhere near the talent of a Morris or Prielipp but the inexperience and lack of innings does make a difference when facing MLB hitters. The problem is that the Twins organization was put in a bad spot and they were mol forced to call up both Morris and Prielipp. Sands isn't much to talk about but Abel, if he is fully healthy, and Ober would allow for some renewed AAA work for Morris and Prielipp. Abel isn't likely to be ready until late in June at the earliest. I'm glad there is another optimist out there. Western SD Fan, mark allen and Jeff K 3

Andrew Morris was working on specific pitches and his command in St. Paul, but the Twins called him up. He wasn't ready but the team needed him. I'm thinking a ton of people are totally underestimating Morris. Earlier this year we heard people suggest that his 94-95 MPH fastballs were inadequate. Well he has hit 100 MPH. The curve, slider, and sweeper are all good. Morris needs a better changeup and command. If he develops those pitches in a year or two he can be an effective middle of the order starting pitcher. The defense behind the pitchers is substandard. Give a team more than three outs and runs are often the result. I'm way more bullish on a number of Twins, especially some prospects, than many on TD. Perhaps I lose my optimism in August but I'm not finding fault with this team right now. They are dealing the best they can with the fallout of nine years of pretty much incompetent leadership. The future will be better. The homer Morris surrendered ended up atop Target Center in a bed of drought-resistant sedum plants. Hindsight is 20/20, but I'd have left Prielipp in until he hit 90 pitches.
Peter Verified Member Posted June 8 Posted June 8 The one run losses/blown leads are getting beyond old!!! This was team we should’ve won 3 of 4 or swept! Need to get ober/rojas/able healthy!!! We are not as bad as some of you suggest! Just can’t win the close ones/saturdays loss was beyond infuriating!!! Let’s hope twins can get right this week with Detroit/st Louis!!! darwin22 and thelanges5 1 1

The direction for this season was set by Falvey during the offseason, leaving right before spring training really didn't leave a lot of room to pivot. Zoll was the number 2 to Falvey and really hasn't shown he doesn't want to follow the plan and put his stamp on this organization. He needs to go and we need an experienced baseball executive to set the direction for this team.
