Maybe the fact that he was a utility player in college should be an indication that he was never really going to be a good defensive player. Personally I think the light is just a little dim upstairs and the defensive skills have always been subpar. I think decent bat skills and some speed were good enough at the college and low level minors to make Toronto and the Twins think they could fix the defensive skills. Like Julien - it just doesn't appear to be there. Maybe he can hit enough to continue to get better at the MLB level, but in all reality with his play yesterday he was giving up runs left and right. That just kills the pitching side which needs every out. We are not working with a full pitching squad.

Tim Grubb, the Wichita radio play by play guy filling in for Attebury, has called over 4000 minor league games. Good on the Twins for giving him a week in the show. 4000 games! Is that several decades? Or can he call multiple games simultaneously? I don't actually know yet which is more impressive. Patzky 1

David HK Verified Member Posted August 6, 2025 Posted August 6, 2025 Heh.... woke up in the middle of the night for old man reasons, and checked in on the game. 1) WHO is this Hatch fella!?! Whaat a job he did. 2) Funderburk-Find Out comes in. Tigers announcers, " Funderburk, the loooooone lefty, and so far this year.... (checks notes), he has been VERY hittable by righties. Aaaaand lefties." ** Edit** And, here we go.... 😱 BrokenCompass 1
BrokenCompass Verified Member Posted August 6, 2025 Posted August 6, 2025 At least the Twins have figured out that Cody Funderburk isn't very good and doesn't deserve a 40-man spot in the future. Absolute garbage. Blyleven2011 and bunsen82 1 1

Blyleven2011 Verified Member Posted August 6, 2025 Posted August 6, 2025 Funderburk , last 2 outings he hasn't given up runs , but can it continue ... Plus he doesn't need to show case for a roster spot next year , he's not really good enough for a roster spot ... He's been sent down 4 times this year so I'm sure he's safe he stays because if they send him down a 5th time he can't be called up again ... Patzky and bunsen82 2
bunsen82 Verified Member Posted August 6, 2025 Posted August 6, 2025 At one point you could get 20 to 1 odds that the Tigers would win the game. Down to 1300 now. With this team and bullpen If I was a betting man if I ever got those odds I would highly consider putting some money down. I still have a feeling we will have some awful bullpen meltdowns. 1/20, 5% chance actually seems low to what their chances were. Maybe up to 15%. Then Funderburk end the inning. Good job. Patzky 1

You only play good teams in the playoffs…you have to at least show that you can hold your own. At 27-29, Detroit actually has a MUCH better record than the Twins had in their recent postseasons. Yes, 27-29 actually gives you some hope…as does their top-of-rotation pitching. NYCTK 1
