……..But it’s also not true that he denied everything — in multiple 2020 interviews, he did say what they did was wrong, admitted it hurt the game, and said they regretted it. He even used the word “guilty.” So technically, yes, he confessed — just not in a way that felt open or personal enough for a lot of people. He spent more time defending Altuve than reflecting on his own actions. Another weak sign.

Good to know. I just never saw those. Perhaps I just saw edits. If you have links, please message me. Thank you.

It will be interesting to see what Twins fans do on return visits. Watching the majority BOO Altuve but embrace Correa was always a hypocritical conundrum.

His feet hurt?  Not being sarcastic or facetious, I'm sure it takes a lot of work just to keep the pain manageable.  The idea of less ground to cover I'm sure had some appeal.  Plus, it would minimize his biggest weakness (range) and accentuate his biggest strength (arm)

This is my belief, but it's also why I was fully onboard to dump him.

He knows father time is winning.

What promise? Honest question. It’s a sports franchise for heavens sake not a marriage with all due respect

I believe that you can find franchises that do care about winning and maximizing their opportunities.  I think there are organizations who want to fulfill their fans wishes.  I am sorry if you think otherwise.

My prediction for Correa's next few years in Houston is a mix of good and bad, I think there is some life in his bat but it's not going to be consistent and who knows if his power comes back. And there will be more injuries, I'm surprised he's played as many games this year as he's had. But there's a reason Houston is willing to pay him $25M per year, which even for them is not chump change...

Whatever went down, the fact remains that the Correa contract was an albatross for a declining player.   Reminds me of the Angels contract with Pujols.

Yes, as is every FA contract. The way MLB and the MLBPA have constructed that system over the years it’s made signing a FA such a small needle to thread. A team like the Twins should not be signing these guys. Yes, it’s exciting for fans and it’s good for aging players for getting a big payday but it hamstrings the team. Granted ownership shouldn’t have pulled the table out from under a ‘23 team that was trending up but this was bound to happen. The mistake by ownership was slamming the contention window shut with the slashing of payroll. They should have been competing for a World Series the last 2 years. But this was inevitable to happen.Teams like the Twins shouldn’t be building around an expensive FA. Correa was starting to show signs of aging and maybe you give him a couple of more years by moving him to 3B but let’s be honest, he’s not getting better. It isn’t the outcome that was gonna be different it was just the results that should have been different and for that we can blame ownership.

I wouldn't bet either way.  Look at his 11 years in the league.  The first 3 were consistently good.  The last 8 he is well above average for 4 years and right around average the other 4 years.  Regardless, his value to the Twins was a SS.  With that fading, it's time to move on but I will say I think he would be a good guy to have around to mentor young players.

Yes, he’s aging like a typical player. When you look beyond the contract and look at all players and how their careers go he’s just simply not gonna get better. You pay the big contract for the good years he’s already had simply hoping that he has a few more and isn’t unplayable for the backend. Buying expensive aging players is simply not the right area of the pool the Twins should be playing in and they’re gonna pay for it the next 3 years to the tune of 10M a year. Was it fun? Yes, but was the fun worth the pain of having to pay a guy 10M not to play for you the next few years?

Now our problems include "clubhouse tension"?

Let me the first to call ********!!! (sorry, but that word is needed here) on any heart, emotions, or frankly anything that could possibly create tension wete absolutely missing in this... amalgamation.

I have seen no previous reference to "clubhouse tension."  Wouldn't that have made a good Twin's Daily article if in fact it were true??

Don't believe a single word that comes out of Correa's mouth. He's a Politiker. A PR savant.

There's not a chance in the world he wouldn't have envoked his no trade clause to go play with the Yankees for example.

He was very obviously in Minnesota only for a paycheck, after two teams took a look at his medicals and threw him out the door. And I don't blame him for it, but this idea that he came here to WIN is very obviously just BS.

Not to mention this idea of him as a leader, while in the background asking leadership to move the 3B? Maybe now we know why he and Royce had words for each other through the media late last season. Maybe Correa was always overrated as the "clubhouse leader".

Lots of downvotes on the post, but the bolded isn't open to disagreement IMO. I've referred to him as the Russell Wilson of baseball for a while. The guy, for better or worse, is focused on crafting a certain image.

I have no problem moving any player anywhere on the field. They've all played baseball their entire lives, they can play other positions. But this is exactly why every time people complain about anyone involved in sports not being honest or open or whatever I say "what do they have to gain?" Royce is human and gave his human, open, honest feelings on the situation. I fully agree he should've been able to slide over without it being such a circus, but I also think he should be allowed to not want to. I can do plenty of other tasks at my job but it doesn't mean I want to.

I don't know if Royce will ever learn, or even wants to learn, how to manage the media like CC does. Royce is incredibly open and honest. And there's no upside to it. There's never upside to it. Same reason Falvey gives nothing but empty corporate speak constantly. Better to annoy fans with corporate speak than be the prima dona.

Eh, two paths that lead to the same destination, or different strokes for different folks I suppose?

Royce gets more of a pass from me because he's younger and he's not eating up a disproportionate amount of payroll. Also, I can kinda appreciate the honesty, even if I don't always love what I hear.

Correa just felt phony to me. I fully understand why people prefer, or even lap up the polished, corporate speak, but I can't stand it. The way this fan base and particularly the media fawned over him at times seemed over the top, though I'll admit the bitter ending might be tainting my view a bit here. The guy just felt like Teflon. Constantly praised as a leader, despite the team underachieving. Numerous stories about him taking player X, Y, Z aside and pointing out some sort of potential analytical improvement. Yada yada. You can stomach it when the team is winning I guess, but it's particularly grating during the struggles.

The "I deserve....." was tone def. You've been a replacement level SS for 4 months and you're making $30+ million. I mean...

Misalignment is what happens when Pohlads don't live up to their promise to try and build a winning team around Correa. The chilling part of this article is the possibility that the Pohlads won't sell and will keep driving the Twins and their fans down the toilet.

Resurrect that old Aaron Hicks thread and plug in Correa. Be the messiah we all need.

I wasn't around then!

I was never in favor of the Correa signing just like I disliked the Donaldson signing. with the way the Twins operate it’s just too big a chunk of their payroll to be able to field a complete team. I also wanted them to let Royce play short so you can be wrong and right at the same time 😀

Ah yes … facts … don’t screw up the narratives of those who aren’t in the know and think they do

boooo.  Completely ignores his 2025 stats, and his massive multi-month droughts going back for years including 2024.  That's the problem with hanging your hat completely on WAR and OBP.  Forgetting the cold stretches and just remembering the final year end stats.
