Vazquez is one of the worst hitters in baseball. He's not brought value at all.  291 hitters have at least 170 at bats. Three are worse than Vazquez. His defense this year is below average for a catcher.

In the case of Vasquez exactly -0.5 bWAR over 3 seasons. 1.2 bWAR for Paddack. Let’s aim higher.

Rocco can't help himself, he has limited options in the bullpen and he still pulls the starter who has been effective for once and a good pitch count.  And if we go extra innings we will be cooked with no one available.
