A sense of balance and perspective about the Twins potential may now be more possible based on these earliest of results. Good to see the team looking like they were enjoying themselves.

Lets remember, this was the lowly White Sox. I'll have to see how they do against some better teams.

For everyone falling in love with Bader and France.,, remember Joey Gallo was hitting .385 with 3 HR at this time in 2023 🙂

Depends on who you want to compare HB to. He's one HR short of Manuel Margot's production for the entire season (more than 350 PAs) and he's already got 8 RBI (in 6 games). I still don't expect great offense from him, but he looks like a definite step up from Margot.

you're just a downer!  But...yeah, it's early

I will be thrilled to be wrong about Bader; I'm still very worried about his overuse against RHP, but if he's able to ride a hot streak early while the Twins are otherwise struggling at the plate, I'll take it. If it means I have to eat crow at the end of the season, I prefer mine grilled.

Pablo did great. one slip to give up the dinger, but awesome to see him mowing through 7 without much trouble. yes, CWS stink but they should be a better squad than last season, and even crap teams win 40% of their games (usually).

Little surprised that they went to Coulombe; with him having pitched the day before and no off day today we now don't have a LHP available until Friday at best. Wouldn't this have been a good spot for Topa? 5 run lead, 1 inning, and him being rested?

real relief for Correa, who had been unlucky so far, to get a hit and then follow it up with another one. I suspect he'd been pressing a little. I'm quite confident he'll hit so long as he's mostly healthy, so glad to see him off the schnide.

Bader has started 4 of the first 6 games, and every one has been against RHP which he historically hasn't hit. That was the primary concern of the "detractors." Unless you think he's suddenly discovered how to reverse that trend at age 31, or 3/4 of his hits will leave the park, it's probably premature to be serving up crow...

Mr. Upbeat, the comment was directed principally at me. I pretty clearly said I didn’t think he’d hit 3 HR’s for at least 8 weeks - is that not clear? I’m not a big fan of the Bader acquisition but it deserves to be pointed out that he’s had some surprising success. That’s it……….chill.

The schedule fooled me too - Friday is a scheduled off day. He sure did a nice job in the 9th with an error mixed in……

All the teams in the Central have only played six games. It is way early to make final judgments. That said, there's plenty to be concerned about. The Twins played a middle-of-the-road team and a bad team in six games and only won two, and they were beaten pretty soundly in all four losses. The starting pitching had three bad starts, one meh, one pretty good and one better than good start. That isn't enough good pitching. The bullpen let one game get away and allowed opponents to add on a couple times, so not very good. The hitting has been abysmal, but the worst offenders are guys with records of being good hitters. Finally, the defense doesn't look any better in the infield.

On the plus side, newcomers Bader and France have been outstanding and satisfactory respectively. Byron Buxton has started six straight games in center field and the Twins haven't dug a hole despite a cold start.

Coming out of the first start having pitched 5 innings and with an ERA of 3.60……… with not great command…….,I do not consider that a bad start. After 2 games Pablo’s ERA is 2.25……that’s tough to achieve with a bad start comprising 1 of the 2 starts.

Nearly 120 games early to make final judgements, IMO.

Pablo gave up four runs in 5 innings. The runs were ruled unearned because of his own error. He only finished five innings and threw a lot of pitches. For a #1 starter that isn’t a good outing. I believe he allowed eight hit as well.

lot of bleeders in those hits, plus a "balk" that either wasn't a balk or they should be calling about 47 of them a game now. he was much better in his second start, but the first one looked like it had a combination of him not being super sharp, bad luck, and a pretty key bad call, not just his own error.

regardless, he definitely looked like a lockdown #1 in outing number 2, which was good to see. Hopefully he finds some consistency and gets on a roll.

I’m as big a Pablo fan as you will find. I think he would tell you he wasn’t on top of his game. I thought his second outing was much better, efficient but still not dominant.

And per the prescribed rules of the game, he gave up 2 earned runs with not very good command in the zone. That’s not a bad outing from the mound, but it’s just “average”. He balked and had a throwing error - I get that, but that’s not a reflection of his pitching performance. We disagree.
