Twins looking at back-up infielders...

Per the Athletic, the Twins are taking a look at Luis Urias and Paul DeJong.

Wonder if they're looking to move Castro and/or Martin. Not a fan of either Urias or DeJong (although he does have some pop) and I'm not sure how they fit unless some current players are on the move.

Could also just mean they don't feel like they have a true backup SS on the roster any longer.

But yeah, I'd truly imagine that Martin could be in the outside looking in with that scenario. And of course, if they do trade Castro, they would hope to get something decent for him.

They went into last year with Farmer as the primary "backup" infielder while Castro was the utility guy and were willing to spend to get Farmer back, so I don't think they are planning on moving Willi. I can't blame them for not wanting to trust the likes of Martin and Helman defensively.

With Bader and now this news it feels like Martin is on the outs.  Maybe this is where a trade comes into play, I think I'd rather just get a very high level glove guy someone else can't find room for.  MLB Network guys were joking that they should just give Ehire a glove and call it a day.

They have to be trading Castro. Brooks Lee is as good as DeJong or Urias.

I'm definitely in the camp - get Cease. Wouldn't mind that trade at all. But, more than likely, Bader and Coulumbe were going to happen regardless.

That, or two other options...

1) They want him to focus solely on 2B. OR

2) Maybe they would move him to bring something else in?

 

These coming weeks are super interesting. I'd lean towards #1 over #2.

If he were at 2B, it wouldn't be a big deal to slide over once a week. But I mol agree, especially #2. Like I say too often I have zero idea what Falvey has as a plan.
