They seemed reluctant to put him behind the plate on his callups this year*, so if he's not hitting and they don't trust his defense, he has no value.

*Though both callups were more because he was the only position player on the roster and he didn't really have a position to play during those cups of coffee.

But I also think they have a lot of fat they can trim first. I think he stays on the roster unless they shakeup the C position significantly.

They will also have guys that need to be added to the 40-man, either from coming off the 60-day IL or to avoid getting lost in the Rule 5 draft.

There'll be payback for that one

No intent there, but yep...someone will get dusted.

Backup catchers are like placekickers. They play until their legs fall off.

I always root for a younger player to get a chance.

For more on the subject, this is outstanding. Best baseball book I've read in several years. Brown interviews a dozen or so backup catchers, with the story framed around Kratz's career.

Crazy to think it’s been almost ten years since that clip and the royals have won a World Series, were dreadful for years, and are now back again

Margot for Buxton, what happened on that strikeout??

Margot is due.

Just kidding.  Personally, when it comes to this topic, I think ignorance is bliss.

Back again to what? Being a competitive team for the first time in 10 years?

Starting 9 vs our Starting 9 most likely favors the Royals for this 3 game set as they will play the same guys most likely every day.

Tonight's KC's 2, 3 & 4 (Witt Jr. 87, Pasquantino 84 and Perez 78) hitters combined have 249 RBI's.  Our total 9 guys have 325 with Jeffers only one in the 50's with 53.

Witt leads them in 14 of 16 hitting categories with SB's and K's being the two he doesn't.  Impressive year he is having.

The scheduling gods were in favor of Royals with a 2-game set vs Cardinals Friday/Saturday, so they got another rest day yesterday.

Twins have to find a way to win 2 out of 3

KC has scored 567 runs this season. The Twins have scored 566.

Playoff team by the looks of it. I think a lot of “smaller” market teams would be total fine with a trajectory like that. World Series - rebuild - playoffs in 10 years. You could do worse. Especially after a title.

I hear Pablo has a nice fastball. Wish he'd use it more.

To me...he just looks like he's really fighting himself out there. Just not comfortable at all. He's talking to himself between pitches, maybe trying to get his focus or something.

You're kidding. A decade of futility is a long time my dude.
