1) Last year, Baldelli would sit on the lineup card like an aging hen. This year, I can go to MLB.com and by 9am, the lineup in available. Why the change in philosophy? Give the players time to get "up," give the players time to study pitch arsenal? Just seems like last year's secret approach has given way to different approach.

2) For those of us who don't have the video cast, your opinion on how Lee looks out there. Thanks in advance.  db

Just because the public doesn’t see the lineup until when we do, doesn’t mean the players don’t know. Now, I don’t know if they do or don’t, just suggesting that perhaps there was a lag in making it public?

Lee, I think for now he stays. He should. He’s earned it. In other words, I think he looks pretty good. Not sure what happens when Royce comes back. I know what I would do, but not sure the Twins will cut bait with Farmer somehow.

He needs a helmet that stays on his head.

I'd be willing to wager a large sum (of your money) the players know the lineup shortly after they show up at the ballpark. Regardless how long it takes to show up on the internets.

Yep, my bet, too. Of course I don’t know for sure, but it would be my guess

Lee looks like a major leaguer. He has made some pretty slick fielding plays and his approach at the plate has seemed pretty mature. Agree with @Squirrel that he looks to be here to stay. Perhaps that convinces the FO to trade Farmer. While he hasn’t been good, he is a clubhouse guy and provides veteran leadership. Maybe we could eat the rest of his salary in order to get a reliever or something.

I think there were a lot of days last year that Rocco was waiting for a thumbs up or thumbs down on players (Buxton and Correa for sure) and the lineup couldn’t be finalized until late.

That would be my guess.

If the lineup is delayed... they are waiting on a medical. How's the tightness today? Any swelling?

Apart from that... Rocco sets up rotations. He doesn't seem to be a "needs oregano" type chef. He sure seems to be a structured... follow the recipe to a T type.

Again my guess... but... apart from real time health assessments, there is probably no reason to delay a lineup in Rocco's case because he probably knows right now who will be in the lineup for Fridays game against the Giants if injuries don't get in the way... just based on his rotation.

Lee looks to be very solid hitter.  He has had a bit of luck so far, but he has hit a few solid hard hits too.  The ball he got a hit on yesterday where Altuve bobbled the ball, first called error, then a hit, would most likely been an out had Altuve left it for Pena.  Lee has had a few other slow rollers just in the right spot.  However, He has not struck out much and gives himself a chance to get a hit.

He could be hitting about .300 if his soft rollers were stopped and not just made it through.  He made a great play at 3rd yesterday, playing back and came in on a bunt attempt for a hit.  It was not a great attempt, but Lee was back on dirt.  Lee nailed him by plenty.  He for sure looks ready to play every day this level, and think when Lewis is ready Farmer will get shopped or DFA.

Julien goes away before Farmer.

No idea about #1. As for Lee, so far he looks real good. Very impressed with his 'd' and he seems to able to handle the bat. Of course the pitchers don't know much about him yet. He definitely stays and if his play stays solid, they won't rush Lewis back. Everybody in Twins Nation is concerned that Lewis can't stay healthy. When he goes down, its always for a long time. (sound somewhat familiar?)

As for Farmer, they will probably stick with him for awhile longer. Julien definitely needs to work on his contact. Way too many k's. (I'm pretty sure Washington is telling Gallo, hey guy take your time, don't have to rush back..how can any team be looking forward to a hitter who strikes out more than once every two AB's returning to take someone's place in the lineup??)

Julien has a lot more value than Farmer,  however as a 1st base/DH/2nd base back up,  there is a some value there with his bat.  Just need a little more refinement.  Look at the rebound Miranda has had.  In my opinion both Miranda and Julien can easily be in the top 30-40 hitters in the league,  and you just don't give up on those type of players when they have flashed at the MLB level unless you are getting a massive return.

Julien is Joey Wallner without a good glove.

He was interviewed on a local channel sports bit , his attitude is as dead as his glove and bat.

And even if they don't know the lineup, I think a lot of managers (including Rocco, if I remember reading correctly) communicate a tentative word to a regular after a game about having the next day off or to a bench player that they will likely be in the lineup.

I think most of his knew of, or were aware of, Lee's hitting skills, but what's really impressed me so far, especially in the game yesterday when he played second base, are his fielding skills. He did indeed look confident and comfortable at that position. I haven't seem him play at other positions as much, so how does he look at third and shortstop?

Julian is still 8th in outs above average at 2B this year. He might be flat but his improvement at second base shows commitment and desire to improve.

Zero improvement defense.
