From the "One reliever down per day isn't enough" department: per Doh Hyung Park, Alcala complained of "soreness" Saturday.

Wow.

And Brent Headrick hitting the IL in St Paul. I believe that makes SWR the only healthy pitcher on the 40-man who isn't in the majors right now. Be interesting to see what they do if Alcala hits the IL.

Who do we have on the IL that can go to the 60-DL?

Royce?

I think they'd probably be hoping Thielbar, Staumont, or Weiss are ready to come back sooner than later and not have to make a 60-day or DFA decision, but I'm not sure exactly where those 3 stand. I know they were hoping Thielbar could start a rehab assignment soon. Maybe they carry SWR for a week as a long-relief option while they get Thielbar ready if Alcala is IL'd?

Pretty sure Thielbar starts a rehab in St Paul today.

That is good news! I know he threw a pen the other day but hadn't heard an update.

All left handed hitters are out of the lineup against Paxton. The lineup is right handed from 1 through 9.

Kirilloff, Julien, Wallner, Kepler along with the switch hitting Castro who is stronger against right handed pitching according to his splits are out.

Nobody should be surprised about this. Rocco is loyal to the left/right split.

However... If anyone is interested. Check out the splits on James Paxton. He is actually consistently tougher on right handers. Yet... this is the matchup that we take Kepler out and just go all right handers.

Oh Well... Let's see what happens.

I wouldn't miss Zach Weiss or Josh Staumont.
