Far less exciting wish list then say USAFChief's

Pick up Polanco and Kepler's options. If 2024 goes sideways you can always trade them Aug 1st. Depth is the key reason why.

QO Gray. Move on if he doesn't accept. Take the draft pick and spend half as much on a bounce back 1 year deal. Frankie Montas?

Pass on MAT. Martin/Keirsey should be able to do something similar offensively (94 OPS+) with less K's. Defensively?

Trade for Mark Canha or if the Brewers cut him. Sign him to a Gallo like deal. 1yr/10-12 mil

Sign a couple of BP arms...This seems like the least likely of my wishes with this FO.

The free agents won't be free, they will be quite expensive. The recent comment about Ohtani ... he will almost surely stay on the West Coast. He might be the one FA that will be worth the money because he can hit every year and possibly return as a pitcher next year. Ohtani is one of a kind and the Twins will not be in the picture, sadly.

Royce Lewis is a third baseman now. My guess is that all discussions about moving him into the outfield are in the past. We'll see what happens but thinking it will help the team doesn't mean it is likely nor even a good plan. Most people think it helps alleviate the pile of infielders while strengthening the outfield, but my guess is that move will not happen.

Byron Buxton will again be one of the main focal points of how the front office looks at the team for next season. DH or OF/DH, either one means less at bats for guys planning on being a DH.

The Twins will have some long discussions about where they see the team heading and how a few minor league players fit. Management seems enthralled with Lewis but it is possible that any of Kirilloff, Julien, Lee, Wallner, or others may be on the table in possible trades. There are probably only a few untouchables: Jenkins, E. Rodriguez, and Lewis.

What happens this offseason, the Twins will have some options to improve and they are pretty solid now.

My biggest wish is for everyone to stay healthy. I know that's not realistic, but good health solves a lot of roster problems before they occur. Beyond that, I wish for every player personnel decision to be the best one.

Heading out to babysit grandkids for the weekend.  I'll probably add something on Monday to this.  I would look to add Nelson Cruz as the Twins hitting coach.  Cruz hit with power, and he did strike out, but he also put the ball in play a lot, especially when the situation warranted it.

There should be very few "untouchable" players when the Twins approach their off season plan.  On the surface, the "why would you even consider trading Joe Ryan" argument doesn't stand up.  I'm not advocating we unload him, but earlier this year, when Ryan's "value" on Baseball Trade Values was 100  I listed several trades that would have brought back a MASSIVE return, because the Twins were selling high on him.  Well, Joe's value has slipped to a still very impressive 44.8.  He's 27 years old and controllable.  But check out this possible trade with the Brewers"

Brewers get Joe Ryan 44.8 value.

Twins get:  Former CY Young winner Corbin Burnes 30.5 value.  Garrett Mitchell, a 24 year old LH hitting OF (7.4) and Peguero a 26 year old RH bullpen arm (5.8).  Burnes is only ONE year older than Ryan at 28 years old.  Yes, he's expensive.  The Twins would have to pay him.  But Milwaukee probably does this deal because they are hitting a tough spot where they can't pay everyone (Woodruff, Peralta, Adames) and they may want to set up extensions for some of there young talent.

Would the Twins have pulled Corbin Burnes after two innings of a playoff elimination game??  No Way.

THIS is why you don't simply rule out a player (other than Lewis) in a trade scenario.

Wish list: Buxton plays 75% of the games.  (I truly believe if he hits that mark, he's worth 5 more wins/season).

Keep:
Kepler
Sonny for somewhere in the 3/$60 range as a start
Michael A back for 1/$5mil

Drop: Maeda, Garlick, Keuchel, Floro, and Gallo

50/50 balls....
I think Polo is replaceable with Julien/Gordon, ideally, Brooks Lee in July
Pagan - 2/$10mil.  I realize, that may not be a popular opinion
Solano - Love him, but not sure he's anything more than a 1/$1.5 guy

Trading Block:
Vazquez (if they get a cheaper vet until Camargo is ready)
Larnach - he's blocked here
Balazovic
SWR
Austin Martin

FreeAgents and offers
Snell - 4yrs /$90mil
Bellinger - 5yrs / $100 (unlikely - if you don't pick up Kepler, it's a possibility)
Hader: 4yrs / $60mil
Jordan Hicks: 2yrs / $8.5mil
Trevor May: 1yr / $8mil

I'm not sure what the answer is for hitting.
Barrel Rate is top 3 in MLB, but Zone Contact rate is 4th worst
Chase Rate is middle of the pack, Chase Contact is still 52%
Whiff% - 5th worst in the league - not surprising

I don't think people understand how good Wallner was compared to other LFers..... If he plays as many games in left as a full time starter, he's a top five LF..... Before you disagree, make sure to look at the stats and number of games started in left....
