Julien still nothing but a platoon player.  He can’t be the next Arraez until he plays everyday - even against lefties. He still has time - he’s young.

With Jorge on the roster he isn’t going to start against lefties and probably shouldn’t.   He has always struggled against lefties and his defense is still an adventure in the field.  Being “young” really has nothing to do with it.  If you didn’t hit lefties during your minor league career, he probably won’t start magically doing it in the pros.

It's interesting that Luis' career splits against leftys are not good and the Twins pretty much platooned him, but this year the Marlins are playing him every day and he is faring nearly as well against leftys as rightys. Some of that has to be chaulked up to the maturation of the ballplayer. Some of it may be SSS. But you have to give Miami credit, I hope the Twins are paying attention.

In 2021 Julien had an 831 OPS against leftys, so not bad. Last year has was terrible, in the 600's. Arraez never was that bad, but has mostly struggled his whole career, majors and minors, against same sided pitchers. This year he's playing full time and doing well. Growth can occur.

I’m not saying growth can’t occur, but when you have better options on the roster, it just makes sense, especially with his defense.

Arraez’s .435 BABIP against lefties this year probably isn’t sustainable when his career % is .317.  Arraez is also a very different hitter than Julien is.

Oh I agree with all that, in fact if you look at my previous post I mentioned that part of Luis' success this year could be chaulked up to SSS. Just don't pigeon hole Eddie just yet. Play him at second, not DH, and over time give him a chance to develop against leftys.

So, you agree.  Julien is a platoon player.  Got it.

When you gave better options, yes I suppose that makes him a platoon player at the moment.

He can still get an AB or two against the bullpen.

Kirilloff to the 10 day IL with a shoulder strain, Thielbar activated.

What day did they make that retroactive to?

The info wasn't in the MLB report that I saw. I'm sure someone will see the date and post it.

I'm always amused when, after a poorly executed pitch, Maeda has this "I should be required to fall on my sword" dance and demeanor.

I'm pretty sure it's today's date. I could be wrong. But since he played yesterday.

That's right.  I forgot that he played yesterday.  So yes, it would be effective today.

No way you can convince me Buxton should be the DH, but he is; there is a reason we have no clue about.

But Gallo has veteran presence and a confident stride to the dugout after a K.

IS Gallo playing today; or is this Sunday whine?
