Makes perfect sense... it's the fear of the unknown. 

They simply don't know what Kirilloff will do against left handers while with Gallo... they know.

Just catching up, but looking at the box score, Kirilloff got pinch hit for as the first batter of the inning? And down three runs? He hurt? Seems like Gallo or Kepler would be better options to get pinch hitters.

I can only assume. He wanted a leadoff base runner or it was simple position for position.

To me it looks like everyone from the manager on down expects to lose, and are just going through the motions. The stench of defeat is strong.
