I got to know John pretty well in bringing him to town for about half a dozen shows over a few years and have probably seen him a couple dozen times, including his all-baseball show when we happened to be in the area on vacation. He got a laugh when I asked if he's ever considered putting a Jugs gun on his dulcimer hammer.

Have you taken in any of his online shows that he started doing during Covid? He had a wonderful song about Hank Aaron after he died, though he hasn't put it on an album. 

  

I have not. I haven't seen him since he moved to Florida (I think it was Florida) after his divorce. He did love baseball, though. Still does, I'm sure. He is a great guy. Always doing gigs for homeless benefits and back then was involved in Aids Support Group with his wife.

Fun fact about me, related to absolutely nothing.  Reid Detmers is from the area I just moved from. I got to watch his parents watch his no-hitter at Home Plate Bar and Grill in Springfield IL. I didn’t talk to them but everyone knew them and what was happening. It was a ton of fun to watch.
