Bunch of great songs on that album, including "Baseball on the Block," with the awesome verse, "Third base is Eddie's old shirt Second is Schmidt's Chevrolet I had a sure double, I was just rounding first When Schmidt's mom drove second away." I got to know John pretty well in bringing him to town for about half a dozen shows over a few years and have probably seen him a couple dozen times, including his all-baseball show when we happened to be in the area on vacation. He got a laugh when I asked if he's ever considered putting a Jugs gun on his dulcimer hammer. Have you taken in any of his online shows that he started doing during Covid? He had a wonderful song about Hank Aaron after he died, though he hasn't put it on an album.
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 Damn. The last 3 pitches to Buxton were served up for damage.
