I had a feeling when Smith came into this inning that he'd give up his first earned run...

Once Winder is healthy, Archer needs to go to the pen. He'll be better off as a 2-3 inning guy while we can hopefully take some load off of the bullpen.

yep. I've said it before, but Archer is going to be a really good reliever when the time comes. I don't think it'll be until August or September, but when it does, he's going to be really good. He's allowed just 5 runs his first time through the order in 7 starts prior to tonight, and an OPS of just .624. The stuff should play up in the pen too.

Re: replacing archer/bundy, yes The injuries have made it difficult but it’s been a problem all year. Smeltzer is an option to replace one of them. He has at least shown the ability to go 5. Ryan, gray, Ober, bundy (I guess), smeltzer. And when winder returns he takes the spot of bundy

I think the real jinx is that @USAFChiefis in attendance.  That's got to be some bad karma somewhere, no?

Even if for no other reason that we haven't been graced by a Chief joke tonight.

Ryan Jeffers is hitting .205/.296/.308 in May with 1 HR and 1 double. He had a nice stretch early in the season, but he's been unplayable (at the plate) in May

Sounds like you're digging the Twins actual plan.

Man, the Twins' plate appearances are looking awful. Tons of weak grounders or flyballs, not hitting anything hard.

Hope they get going offensively.

Wow, one of the smoother innings Pagán has thrown in a while. ?

Interesting what Bremer said about his splitter grip.

I recently watched an old game. It was game 1 of the 1987 nlcs. Cardinals and Giants. Danny Cox pitched for the cardinals. By the 8th inning the cardinals were up 5-0. Though they had a full relief staff, including closer stud Todd Worell, should they need him, Cox came out to finish the game. Probably threw 500-600 pitches. (Or 130-160… something in there). If I remember correctly, they might have said this was all on 3 days rest. Not worried a lick about the next game-possibly a clencher, or his arm in the WS.

I know it is a different game now. But man… they sure did have different priorities.

Lets blame him(or her)

Funny you say that.  I was actually curious when his last clean inning was.

Buxton trying to pull that last pitch, shows how off he is, and yes this whole Buxton playing time issue is in his Head, reminds me of Robocop

I’m ok with ONE of the two four inning guys in the rotation (only until winder gets back), but not both.

Cold as ice, is Buxton.

As a consolation prize, it's a little break from the mental fatigue of watching him play at an All Star/HoF level and telling ourselves not to think about how great he and the Twins could be if he could stay healthy.

Buck is just looking brutal today (and of late). Wonder if the Twins wouldn't be better of just putting him on the IL until he gets healthy again. This isn't doing him or the Twins any favors.

Of course, the rest of the Twins (minus Luis) isn't helping today. That Polanco AB was atrocious. Come on Polo, you can do better!

And he really didn't even do all that much while he was here to make his moving on seem like a big loss.

But going to the Yankees and being every bit as much of a dink as you'd expect a Yankee to be has really made it feel like addition by subtraction.  (Sort of) well done, Josh D.
