chpettit19 Community Moderator Posted May 20, 2022 Posted May 20, 2022 According to Aaron Gleeman on Twitter the Royce Lewis position dance has begun in AAA. Lewis is leading off for the Saints and playing 3B tonight. Let's see where things go from here I guess.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2022 Posted May 20, 2022 They will probably draw a circle in the dirt to show where he should stand. ?

ashbury Verified Member Posted May 20, 2022 Posted May 20, 2022 It's called the Hot Corner. That means it's harder playing there than shortstop, right?
CRF Verified Member Posted May 20, 2022 Posted May 20, 2022 With all the shifts going on, he'll be playing where the SS normally would play anyway. Give him some reps in LF too.

LA Vikes Fan Verified Member Posted May 20, 2022 Posted May 20, 2022 We have Celestino to play CF when Buxton is out. He's hitting .333/.387.404(.791). I'd like to get them both in the lineup with Lewis at 3B and Celestino in LF (CF when Buxton is out) and Larnach as the LF/DH. Larnach hits in the 6/7 hole and Lewis and Celestino hit 8 and 9, setting up Buxton, Correa, etc. Catcher hits 6 (Sanchez) or 7. Lineup is Buxton, Arraez, Correa, Polanco, Kepler, Sanchez/Jeffers, Larnach, Lewis, Celestino. Urshela is primary backup IF, Gordon primary backup OF with Garlick hitting as DH against LH pitching or to rest Kepler against LH pitching. Other bench bat is reserve Catcher. Sanchez or Kepler plays 1B against LH pitching. I'd actually think about leading off Arrraez, and moving Correa to the 2 with Buxton moving to 3.

stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 21, 2022 Posted May 21, 2022 Royce was 0-5 today with four strikeouts. Maybe it’s time to send him to Wichita. I kid, I kid.
Mark G Verified Member Posted May 21, 2022 Posted May 21, 2022 You know, I think back a couple of months or so and I remember the jolt we all got out of signing Correa. The talk then was that Lewis hadn't played hardly at all in 2 years and could use the year Correa is here to get back into shape and develop a little more. Also, I heard a lot of clamoring for Miranda to be the 3rd baseman right out of spring training; he has done all he can in AAA and all that. Celestino couldn't hit his weight last year, and I heard a lot of talk about giving him more time in AAA since he skipped it in coming up. And don't forget how nice it was to get out from under Donaldson's contract so we could afford Correa. What a difference a couple of months makes.

He will be back.
MGM4706 Verified Member Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 Put Lewis in left. Larnach has no clue on how to play the wall and the league now has figured out how to pitch him. He is lost at the plate. Lewis with his athleticism is already as good as any Leftfielder we put out there!!
