Thome and Cruz were both aging veterans, thought by many to be diminished (they weren't). Jack Morris was a bit younger (35), but also thought to be on the downside of his career. Frankly, I can't think of a free agent who was at his peak and signed away from another team.

Aside from Correa?

Bert Blyleven, though he was a trade? The first time…

Tom Herr (ducks)

It's early to make a judgment on Correa.

Your statement was a free agent at their peak that was signed away from another team.  Correa definitely qualifies for that regardless of performance.

One thing is that the Twins really can't run their way to runs, especially with Buxton not a factor. When they try to steal they get caught and when they stay at first, they hit into double plays. Catch-22.

Who’s the last “big name” trade/signing that really worked out for the twins? I don’t mean someone we took a chance on, I mean an all star type that we signed and actually delivered? Orlando Cabrera? He was a gold gloved we didn’t sign until July.  Carl Pavano? Shannon Stewart? Luis Castillo?

Before Nelson Cruz, Ervin Santana was actually really good with the Twins.

My question was who are the free agent signings or trade acquisitions who were previously all stars and came here and performed up to expectations. The list is short

I saw your question, I was thinking @stringer bellwas going in a different direction, but I could have misunderstood what he was saying.

What i miss?

One run and a bunch of missed opportunities.

So, you know, just like every other game.

The OP said "that really worked out for the Twins" and I maintain that it is far too early to evaluate that. I see that we are now on the same page on this, so this posting is needless.

I agree with that, especially since he hasn't thus far anyway.

I wasn't sure if you were going in another direction or not.

Tori Hunter count as big name?

Did he get us back to contention?

The pen is pretty rested, and they still have a 28 man roster. Why is Jax coming into a 1 run deficit?
Rocco giving up as well?

You'd  prefer, maybe, Duffey?
