RickOShea Verified Member Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Cave, keep your head down on the ball and quit closing your eyes.

Let me repeat the rest of the comment "Still, 4 errors, and only 2 earned runs. Not bad. Baldelli has these guys focused and playing the field with aplomb ..."
RickOShea Verified Member Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Twins lead the majors in most errors.. When is the last time you ever heard that?

Has any kid ever forfeited his position in the draft, to avoid Minnesota? That's ok Mr. Manfred, I gotta pee, he can ahead go of me.

If he guesses wrong on location or speed, he does a great Sano impersonation. His K% is just under 20% and he is widely regarded as a hitting savant. He’s anything but a guess hitter.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Now I know the struggle of not being able to watch. Parents have YouTube TV and MLB.tv is blacked out. Oh well.

He's still a way above average hitter.

insagt1 Verified Member Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Totally not surprised about sending Larnach down. He was really struggling. But having both Cave and Simmons in the lineup doesn't help much. Anyone have that pit feeling that the first game Buxton plays will result in a season ending injury of some kind.? Twins can still win this one.

Well, I still like high average hitters. I will always struggle to consider .250 hitters and less above average, but I know that it is in vogue to not care about batting average these days. I certainly feel that we are getting the downside of Donaldson's career and output, that's for sure. There were years he was on the top of the heap. Not now.

You can regard him however you choose.

I’m not a fan of the low batting average in today’s game but Donaldson is still a handful of points higher than the AL average. He’s definitely aging but many people aren’t mentally adjusting just how low batting average has fallen in the past few years.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 With 4, should be 5 errors committed, it's somewhat impressive that the Indians have been held to only 4 runs.

It’s not me regarding him that way, it’s basically all of baseball. Anecdotal swings in individual plate appearances doesn’t change his current numbers and strong history of hitting.

I guess I hesitate to make the criteria lowered because all are hitting worse. I never liked getting a 98 on the test (which actually happened sometimes!), and the rest of the class got no higher than 82, and the whole class being graded on the curve. I get it though. (The instructors in college had to make it look like they were educating the students......) Just because most hitters are not hitting well anymore, doesn't mean, to me, we should change the standards of what is a great hitter, and grade then on the curve, so to speak.
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 No Dick..... you have to find a place for Miranda to play!
RpR Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Yep, cover your head with your glove if the ball is coming your way; no wonder the twins have so many errors.
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 If Colome would have pitched like this early in the season, we would still have Berrios and Cruz on the team. I don't know if I will ever like Colome now.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Wonder how this year would have turned out if colomé hadn’t been so terrible early on
