This is sad news for us older fans.  RIP Mudcat.

Mud at had a nightclub act “Mudcat and the Kitties” and a nice assortment of pitches. His 20-win season was 1965, the year the Twins broke through and won the pennant.

I remember his unique windup with two taps on the rubber.

I was fortunate enough to sit and talk to Mudcat several times in Ft Myers.  He told me a lot of stories, some I’ll never forget.  I really enjoyed him, a great guy.

One of if not the best Twins rotations ever - Kaat, Grant, Pascual and Perry.

Sorry but I remember the name of the acts as Mudcat and His Kittens.   He was the best thing on the mound in the spectacular 1965 season.

Mudcat fan here . . . '65 of course. After he lost his starter's mojo and bounced around a few teams he re-found his groove as a reliever and his last 2 seasons (1970-71) he was 14-6 with 34 saves and a 2.42 era then retired at age 35. RIP Mr. Grant.
