The Braves call up 19 and 20 year old pitchers and hitters all the time and they turn into All-Stars. Meanwhile the Twins wait until their prospects are weathered old grandpas before they even let them sniff the bigs. What's to lose by letting Duran or Balazovich get a shot here? A year of control? There is literally nobody else, like you said, except Captain Clownshoe & co. I'm all for trying different things, but calling up guys for the sake of calling up guys isn't really a solution either.

He had a 105 ERA+ with the Dodgers. Going into today, and it’s only gotten worse, he had a 79 ERA+.

There does not seem to be a velocity issue, at least. He was never this bad for the Dodgers. Agreed.

This was a valid criticism for the Terry Ryan era Twins, but they have been much more aggressive with promoting their prospects under the Falvine regime (see Arraez, Jeffers, Kirilloff, Larnach...)

h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 Some teams get a walk and a HBP, and those are the runners that score. They make you eat those runs. But the 2021 Twins? Just place holders for futile stats.
bighat Verified Member Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 A 3-ball count again right out of the gate. Lucky to get that guy to fly out. Oh Randy Dobnak, we need ye!
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 Smalley calling Maeda "his (Baldelli's) ace". 2 months and Maeda is an ace. Those are some optimistic standards.

Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 So let’s use Kepler in center and keep Cave as the fifth OF option?

bighat Verified Member Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 Twins are tied because Luis Arraez threw out a guy at home from the outfield, and Max Kepler robbed a homer in center. Not to mention a line drive double-play turned in the IF. Could very easily be 5-3 or worse. But it's not. So let's give the defense credit where it's due and hope the offense can score a few more off Cease.

LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 It's my first go with the new site, and it seems... nice. Some of the new features are cool, and I appreciate the fact that a lot of work and thought went into it. That being said, somebody mentioned that we should say something if we're seeing a lot of ads. If that was a joke, I get it now, and well played. If not, well, I'm not complaining, I'm just sharing a classic gif that seems relevant... Don't get me wrong, though... it's cool that the changes have led to Aggies hitting the home stretch of his exotic female companion search.

I’d call it even at this point?
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted May 12, 2021 Author Posted May 12, 2021 I know Jeffers was really bad this year, but I'd much rather see him taking these AB's that Rortvedt is getting. He is lost at the plate.
bighat Verified Member Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 Twins don't even put the ball in play in the inning. We've seen this movie before, and it's not going to get any better tonight folks.
