Derek Law to the 10 day DL (right shoulder impingement), Danny Coloumbe to the paternity list. Beau Burrows and Juan Minaya called up and Charlie Barnes called up as the 27th man to start today. Devin Smeltzer and Randy Dobnak moved to the 60 day DL.

Burrows was sent back down to the minors for Columbe, who's off the paternity list. Jax was used as the 27th man. It has been confirmed that Garver is being activated for Game 2, so I imagine Rortvedt will head down to AAA in return.

They decided to keep the extra bat for now and sent Barnes down instead.

I was almost hoping they would send Jeffers so he can catch every day.

I'm actually seeing that Rortvedt was demoted, since Barnes was the 27th man and was returned to AAA once Saturday was over.

Well they must have changed it on the twins website after I looked then.

Rortvedt has returned from the minors to replace Garver, who's on a paternity leave. In the Cruz trade, our 40 man roster stays full with the addition of Strotman.

Also, Garlick is likely done for the year as he underwent hernia surgery after not feeling right in his AAA rehab stint.

Calling up Rooker makes sense. Let’s see what he can do. It is interesting that they didn’t call up Cave. I understand Cave is a left-handed hitter and we’d rather have a right handed hitting DH or outfielder right now, but it does make you wonder a little bit what Cave’s future is with the organization. It almost looks like they’re waiting until Refsnyder or Buxton is ready to call up another outfielder and demote Celestino. I wonder if Cave won’t be included in a trade with one of the pitchers on expiring contract. It almost looks like the team wants to see what Rooker can do to see if he is in the plan going forward, but don’t really need or want to see the same thing on Cave.

I won't be sad if Cave never puts on a Twins uniform again. The fact that we kept him over Badoo and Wade is not something we need to be reminded of further.

Cave is still on a rehab assignment.

His 20 day max for a rehab assignment has to be coming up soon. He went on his rehab assignment July 13, so he has about 10 days left I guess.

Garlick and Refsnyder both made rehab appearances in Saints games this week. Garlick must have had a setback.

Garlick will have surgery. He will likely be done for the season.

The Twins have claimed RHP Edgar Garcia from the Reds on waivers. He has a poor track record, but it makes sense to try out these guys in our MLB pen and get rid of the Minaya types and maybe option Alcala.

Tallying up today's moves... Berrios, Happ, and Robles traded, opening up 3 40 man spots. Griffin Jax and Charlie Barnes have been called up to fill the two spots in the rotation, and John Gant will take Robles' spot. Edgar Garcia was optioned to AAA. This should leave the Twins with 1 open spot on the 40 man with Gant and Garcia taking up spots.

Besides anyone from the new additions, I only see the potential of giving Balazovic, Sands, Winder Vallimont and maybe Albers attempts to start. Of course, Thorpe will be back ion the mix soon.

The bullpen arms showing life are Vasquez (crafty lefty from the old days), Hamilton, Cano, Vincent, Moran and Barraclough.

Strotman and Ryan are shoo-ins to get exposure in September.

You should get to AAA ball Gore, Neff and Ryan Mason sooner rather than later.
