h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 I think only Jeffers and Cruz left on the bench? i guess he stays........ gotta do it with a real rally.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Buxton came off the bench in the 6th that game he missed with non-covid illness. It would have been nice if Cruz had the same recovery speed.
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Twins not giving the home fans their joy!
D. Hocking Verified Member Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 I think only Jeffers and Cruz left on the bench? The radio crew was not even sure if Cruz was still at the stadium.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 If we can't hit against pedestrian pitchers like the Tigers, Mariners, and Red Sox are throwing at us, how are we going to score runs against the good ones?
Puckett34 Verified Member Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 I think only Jeffers and Cruz left on the bench?Cruz was a late scratch, wasn't he? Wouldn't he be unavailable? Plus the only thing he can run to right now is the latrine.
jun Verified Member Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 First pitch swinging. What a waste of roster spot. Let Cave go please.
cHawk Community Moderator Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 I mean they're putting it in play with RISP, why can they not get them in?
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 The radio crew was not even sure if Cruz was still at the stadium.Who can blame him. Tought to watch this offense.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 I didn't want Cave to be the one to come through anyway. I still would prefer to resent him being a starter with a clean conscience.

My son texted me like 2 days into the season with...."and it took 36 hours for Cave to worm his way into the starting lineup."
cHawk Community Moderator Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Garlick. Astudillo and Simmons. None, and I mean none, of those 3 guys will keep up at even an average or above MLB level for a starting player by mid-summer. Agree about Astudillo but why not Garlick and Simmons? Simmons isn't a MiLB hitter at baseline like you say he is. Neither is Garlick.
Twodogs Verified Member Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 I wonder what the record of the bullpen is so far this year?
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Alcala was two outs away from possibly being the new closer
twinbythebay Verified Member Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Overall nice outing by Dobnak, I thought. I'll take one run over three innings from him. It's not his fault the damn bats decided to go dormant after the first inning...
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Looking like another come from ahead loss. "The bullpen's fine."
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 That ball would have made it no further than the flower beds if it was still snowing.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Common theme thus far is that we are doing a horrible job at adding runs on when we get into teams bullpen. It's a great recipe to lose games. Getting the starter out of the game early is great and all, but you must do damage to the middle relievers after doing that.
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Devers homer was on a pitch that Alcala put it right where it was called by Garver. Glove didn't have to move.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Alcala was two outs away from possibly being the new closerNo. If that was even a possibility, he wouldn't be in this game down 1. Which begs the question, why WAS he in this game? TF is Waddell for?
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 I wonder what the record of the bullpen is so far this year?Remember that bullpen wins are 100% dependent on the hitters taking the lead... so yes, their record is 0-4. But since this team so rarely scores runs against opposing bullpens, it's nearly impossible to get bullpen wins.
twinbythebay Verified Member Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Looking like another come from ahead loss. "The bullpen's fine."I mean, I don't think they'll be carrying the team or anything, but you're not gonna win many games scoring two runs...

D. Hocking Verified Member Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Who can blame him. Tought to watch this offense. There are times when I am not sad that I have to listen on the radio... I swear I heard them say this is the coldest game Boston has played since 1979. It is cold - but not freakishly cold - and it is Boston - surely they have had some low 30 temp games in the last 40 years. The defense sounds better anyways.... Sounds like I did not want to see that homerun. I did find Astudillo's slide online.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Notice there is some Jake Cave hate in here...and I cannot agree more. He cannot be starting on a team that hopes to repeat a third time as division champs. We've seen what he is...a decent 4th OF, and nothing more. He gets exposed when playing long stretches in a row, or against left handed starters. To no fault of his own, he's being asked to do both right now. I was asking for an OF signing all off-season (Brantley or Springer, or even a tier below though guys), and it never came. Now we're paying for it. AK can not get to Target Field fast enough.
D. Hocking Verified Member Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Twins have been outscored 9 to 0 in the ninth inning this year - they might need to work on that - hopefully starting now.
Marek Houston Wichita Wind Surge - AA SS On Saturday, Houston went 3-for-5 and scored two runs. After a short slump, he is now back over .290 on the season. Explore Marek Houston News >
