Sure would be nice to have an outfielder who might be able to make a play on those 2 HRs to right field. Gonzalez is a 3rd baseman, not an outfielder.

For as good as our bullpen was yesterday, it's been horrible today

It's not "The Bullpen" that's horrible. It's Littell and Smeltzer. They are below-average "B Squad" and "Getaway Day" arms and we're seeing why.

Those balls landed well into the bullpen. No one catches those.

The first HR literally bounced off the top of the wall.

Yes, I also thought that especially on that other one that came down on the top of the wall.

 

Hopefully, Buck will be back soon.

They could do a much better job with the cardboard cutouts too. The White Sox should have a cutout of Harry Carrey just to piss off the Cub fans, stuff like that. Maybe use a few mannequins too.

I'm waiting for the cutouts to get curled edges, damage from foul balls, or just color washout from sun. Will MLB spend the millions to replace them?

Not sure I agree with this. Smeltzer yeah, he is a long reliever. I had pretty high hopes in Littell being a pretty good reliever. He was good last year

The cutouts in the outfield should be able to throw home run balls back into the field. Scratch that, I might write a screen play called "Cutouts in the Outfield"

Agreed. Not panicking or anything, but he's been unimpressive. That first-pitch GIDP earlier today, if Rosario did that this board would be clamoring for his immediate demotion.

 

I like Eddie as a hitter and can live with his aggressiveness. It's his fieldwork that's so frustrating. To my eye, it's far too casual.

I think Rocco was saving Romo for the 8th in case Smeltzer pitched a scoreless 7th and the Twins were still within striking distance. In hindsight that was a bad move but you can't blame him for trying to squeeze one more inning out of Smeltz.

 

This smelled like a B Squad game from the start and it certainly appears it'll end up like one.

Are we sure that MLB couldn't manage a little better virtual crowd for these things?

 

Maybe add some motion, like a fat guy struggling to not spill as he make his way down the row with a tray full of brats and beers?

 

I mean, c'mon... Kevin from Home Alone was able to simulate an entire dinner party with a few mannequins, some string, and a Michael Jordan Fathead, for heaven's sake.
