Two ex-Twins the team gave up on having a big impact in the last 2 games.  I always loved Hicks.  Pressley did not really care but wow!   Hicks is one player the Yankees did not have to overspend to get.  As much as it bothers me they let him go, he deserved to be on a team that appreciated him and I bet he was singing all NY NY all the way there.

I couldn't stand Hicks. I was so glad to see him go. Give credit to the Yankees for fixing his flaws, but don't I don't criticize the Twins for cutting bait. Pressley is a different story, Twins shouldn't have ever traded him.

I would rank the Hicks trade as among the worst in Twins history, and it was blindingly obvious at the time.

The type of talent drain that just. Cant. Happen.

Hicks is so much like the players we have now he was outspoken and a little cocky but that was so much better than players who just walked away after striking out looking like it was no big deal.  Those were the players that got play in the Gardy age anyone with a personality didn't last long.

The way he played. His attitude. His father. The weak ground outs. The methodical approach to the game. I didn't want him dumped for trash, but I would be lying if I said I thought he would turn out this good. Either way, I don't view him as a mistake by the Twins. Glad to see him go.

LeMahieu ties it with a 2 run HR in the top of the 9th.

I hate the Yankees with the white hot searing passion of a thousand suns, but gotta give them their due. That lineup is just relentless. So few wasted ABs. So few easy outs.

I didn't stay awake to see the end of the game but I am glad it ended this way. I just wish the Astros could have won the series in 5 games so Yankee fans could have suffered the disappointment of 3 straight home losses.

Quote of an AllStar.  I think we have guys now who feel that same way and will help.  “We talked about winning the division, putting ourselves in a good spot for the postseason and the World Series. We came up short,” said Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge. “No matter how many games we won in the regular season or whatever else we did, this season is a failure.”  Even though Aaron Judge didn't have much this post season he sees nothing short of winning the WS as a success.  I like that attitude.

Pressly threw only one pitch last night, but with it, he escaped a big jam in the Astros eventual 6-4 win.

Of course, the circumstances were so specific, who knows if it could have helped the Twins. Bases loaded, third inning, Didi Gregorius at the plate...

So, apparently Pressly had scar tissue break loose. Here's hoping that doesn't end the brilliance he's experienced in the last 18 months.

FWIW, Pressly has already said he will be ready for the World Series:

"Just some scar tissue that broke off," he said. "It was bound to happen at some point. I just didn't think it was going to happen in the middle of that game. I'll be good and ready to go next week."

Happy the Yankees lost, but also sad there's no game 7 today. Now it's two days without baseball! At least we had 3 pretty exciting division series this year, and a good wild card game, so it's been an entertaining postseason around the league -- I'm just greedy.

World Series begins Tuesday -- free TV (Fox) for all you cord-cutters. Hopefully it goes 6-7 games!

I’ve had scar tissue break up a few times. Hurts like the dickens for a day, but I’ve never had it happen during a baseball game. I did have scar tissue between ribs break up during a coughing fit. I thought I was going to die for a few minutes that felt like an hour.
