Sorry John but not sure where to post?

Washington Nationals up 2-0 vs Astros..in 2019 WS

1.Brian Dozier

2.Fernando Rodney

3.Anibal Sanchez

4.Kurt Suzuki

Just saying...?

  just saying...?

Has Dozier played yet in the WS?

Pressly has been awful in the post season.

I have to wonder if he's not fully healthy

Ineffective and possibly hurt? More evidence that Pressly was meant to play for the Twins in the 2019 postseason! :)

To be fair, Pressly did get outs in critical situations to help the Astros win games 4 and 6 of the ALCS.

And prior to last night, his two bad postseason games were fairly inconsequential -- the first he allowed 2 runs when the Astros were up 6 and still won by 4. The second, he allowed 2 runs when they were already down by 3 and thus lost by 5.

But yeah, overall, he's getting hit pretty badly right now.

Nope! No Dozier yet. Asdrubal Cabrera has played every inning at 2B -- and came through big with that 2-run single off Pressly last night.

I expect we'll see Dozier as a pinch-hitter now, as the series moves to Washington (no DH).

Astros need to work on a better variety of light-show celebrations, to not look so crass when a solo shot cuts a deficit to 9.

Unfamiliar with the light show, at first I thought there was some kind of power issue in Houston!

I guess perhaps there was a power issue, as Suzuki/Eaton/Taylor out-homered the Astros last night...

I gotta be honest, and this is pretty petty sour grapy (or is it grapie?  grapey?)

Glad to see Suzuki play the hero role.  Always seemed like a good guy.  And while I have nothing against Ryan Pressly per se, I'm not sad to see him flop in the WS.  The Astros Evil Genius narrative gets tiresome, all the more with their recent organizational blunders.  I do understand that Pressly is one of the cogs that got them there; it's just nice to think that their algorithms can't see deep into the heart of a champion.

I haven't watched the games, as I forgot they still showed the WS on free TV.  My bad--sorry WS viewership numbers!  Has Osuna pitched?  Boy, if he gets in a game in Washington I'll bet he's warmly received.  I suppose the crowing karmic consequence of all would be for him to blow a decisive Game 4.

p.s.  *Note to self--Need to change profile pic.  You failed me Dobs.

No Osuna yet.

Regardless of fan reception, I kinda want Washington to tag him for some runs, so they can crow "I'm SO ******* glad they got Osuna!" after the series.

Technically that was a 1989 Reds play.

Although it may also be relevant in the context of the Justin Verlander play from last night:

WS Ryan Pressley >> WS David West

Ah, good ol' David West.  I did see him throw 6 innings of no hit ball one game, in 1990 I believe. Was starting to get exciting in the Metrodome that day...

Interesting lineup note: the Nationals are sitting Howie Kendrick (season 142 OPS+, .746 OPS this postseason) in favor of Asdrubal Cabrera (season 97 OPS+, .433 OPS this postseason).

Looks like Cabrera has some good career numbers vs Greinke -- .432/.512/.568, 1.079 OPS, and only 2 K's in 44 PA.

By comparison, Kendrick is only .250/.250/.350, .600 OPS in 20 PA vs Greinke.

Should be interesting to watch!

Checking in from Nats Park....

N - A - T - S

Nats! Nats! Nats!

(It’s my home team, my NL team, and hell, the organization has been great, with my sons meeting many players over the years through their connection and outreach to Capitol Hill Little League.)

Um.... does anyone else feel that Robles's spectacular catch in the top of the first was basically a very bad read followed by a very fine recovery?

Runner on third, one out, (close game), and the pitchers spot up.

Washington sends the pitcher to hit (Sanchez) and signals bunt, right up to 2 strikes, and Sanchez strikes out bunting.

I expected a pinch hitter.

(psssst I really wanted to see Dozier hit there)

SO, not, exciting to watch a pitcher bat.....

Maybe Washington’s weak bullpen factored in to that.

To which I say, fine the pitcher $500,000 every time he swings at a pitch.

... maybe he will draw a walk not swinging

Frankly, that's Robles defensively. To his credit, the kid has incredible reads once he messes up his initial read and elite closing speed, but those who try to argue him as an elite defensive center fielder just leave me shaking my head.

Worst is when a Twins fan attempts to equate Buxton and Robles. Nope, no, nyet, not a chance they're in the same ballpark defensively.

Absolutely the bullpen played a factor there. But they needed to plate that run.

Well, that was a great experience going to the first World Series game ever in Nats Park with my son, and first WS game for either of us. Tough to see them lose, but the atmosphere was amazing. I will say, once they got down the crowd lost a lot of steam. In the ninth inning, a bunch of people in my section didn’t even bother to stand up and egg on a rally. I mean, you’re at the World Series, you’re down three, man on, Rendon and Soto up, and you can’t even be bothered to stand up?

It would have been fun to see a Nats home run. Everyone in the stands was given a bracelet that lit up. I assumed the lights in the stadium would have gotten shut off and a light display was planned.

Anyway, still a great time, and a fun moment to share with my son.
