Pineda was initially tagged with an 80-game ban—standard procedure for first-time offenders—but an appeal brought that number down to 60 after providing evidence that the substance in Pineda’s system was not used as a masking agent for PEDs.

He will miss the first 39 games next season. He probably would have started four more games this season.

That's the only silver lining that I can think of, as well.  

 

Interestingly it was reduced to 60 games (from 80) on appeal because a compelling case was made that the drug was not a masking agent.  So that may contribute to the Twins' willingness to resign him.

Seems to me that if he has high blood pressure that some doctor prescribed it for him??  If he doesn't have high blood pressure then that becomes more of a problem.
