LVTwinsfan Verified Member Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Oh, I don't know, maybe being a 19-game winner? Why shouldn't a pitcher strive to win 20-25 games or have 200-225 K's? That's called being a shutdown pitcher and being the ace of the staff. You're setting goals to be one of the best pitchers your team sends out there every 5 days. I wanted to see how you backed up your assertion before I cemented my opinion of the original post. Your explanation did nothing to change it.wasnt trying to change anyone’s opinion, but as long as we’re on the subject, my opinion stands also
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Bats, pleaseWelp, I guess this only works when Riverbrian does it...
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Verlander knocked around today, too.
obtusebanter Verified Member Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Nice to see the shift work for once. Keep me honest on my dislike for the tactic.

glunn Community Moderator Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Two nice innings in a row by Berrios. Now for some offense!
crapforks Provisional Member Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Lineup preferences aside, I always like seeing Arraez leading off an inning when the Twins are down. Even if he makes an out, he has fun, competitive ABs so frequently.
TwinsCD Verified Member Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 compelling argument I guess, although nothing that you said describes Berrios in any way shape or form His physical maturity hasn't caught up to his youthful enthusiasm yet. There's nothing wrong with saying it. I'm sure if you polled the entire starting staff, they'd all strive to be 20-win, 200-strikeout pitchers. I mean, what's he supposed to say -- I want to be 14-10 and a 4.50 ERA with a K/BB ratio of 1.5-1?
Circus Boy Verified Member Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 So far, pitching and defense holding up. But hits are few and far between.
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 he makes it about him, what’s his attitude now that 20 wins is out of reach This is a good example of an unwarranted assumption.
sftwinsfan Verified Member Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Nice to know there are a couple minor league free agents coming to save the season.
glunn Community Moderator Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Nice to know there are a couple minor league free agents coming to save the season. Who is saying that?
Darius Verified Member Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Schoop is totally useless at this point. Total rally killer every single time.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Secret of Civale’s success today? They probably didn’t give him the Twins scouting report; they sent him out there ignorant.
mrtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 MISSED CALL ON MAX THERE, DONT HELP
TwinsCD Verified Member Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Ummmmm, that's not reviewable? And if it is, why didn't we challenge?? And if it's not, WTF not??
sftwinsfan Verified Member Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Who is saying that?Wasn't real serious, Bremer on the tv broadcast was talking up a couple minor league veterans and comparing the guy they got from Seattle to the Royals Dyson I think during their World Series runs.
mrtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Good inning Jose, now loosen up your collars boys and start hitting this bum quick, Cause Francona will pull him soon
mrtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Who is saying that?Bremer on tv
mrtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Umpire has screwed Max twice this game
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 LET'S GO BATS!!!! LET'S GO BATS!!!!
MNT1996 Verified Member Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Cleveland has arguably 4 starters better than our ace
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Cleveland has arguably 4 starters better than our ace You are correct When you say arguably.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Did buxton and Cruz mean this much to this offense? What a dreadful performance
MNT1996 Verified Member Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 I don't think there's much argument that Clevinger and Bieber are better pitchers than Berrios right now, but I think a good argument can be made that Plesac and this Cyvale guy are pitching better than Berrios currently. Plus Cleveland has Kluber. Cleveland has scary depth with their pitching.
LVTwinsfan Verified Member Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Cleveland has arguably 4 starters better than our aceyeah , not really even an argument , for years the Twins have played down the importance of a high quality pitching staff. If they make the playoffs it is obvious that they don’t have the pitching required to compete in playoff baseball.
John Kelsey Verified Member Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Three starts for Civale in his career, all dominant. They just keep churning these guys out.
glunn Community Moderator Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Did buxton and Cruz mean this much to this offense? What a dreadful performanceI think that they meant a lot, especially Cruz. And Buxton's speed and defense are elite. That said, other players need to step up.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Not a bad start by Berrios today, considering all the gnashing of teeth and beating of breast.
