Oh, I don't know, maybe being a 19-game winner? Why shouldn't a pitcher strive to win 20-25 games or have 200-225 K's? That's called being a shutdown pitcher and being the ace of the staff. You're setting goals to be one of the best pitchers your team sends out there every 5 days.

I wanted to see how you backed up your assertion before I cemented my opinion of the original post. Your explanation did nothing to change it.

wasnt trying to change anyone’s opinion, but as long as we’re on the subject, my opinion stands also

compelling argument I guess, although nothing that you said describes Berrios in any way shape or form

Lineup preferences aside, I always like seeing Arraez leading off an inning when the Twins are down. Even if he makes an out, he has fun, competitive ABs so frequently.

His physical maturity hasn't caught up to his youthful enthusiasm yet.  There's nothing wrong with saying it.  I'm sure if you polled the entire starting staff, they'd all strive to be 20-win, 200-strikeout pitchers.  I mean, what's he supposed to say -- I want to be 14-10 and a 4.50 ERA with a K/BB ratio of 1.5-1?

Nice to know there are a couple minor league free agents coming to save the season.

Who is saying that?

Who is saying that?

Wasn't real serious, Bremer on the tv broadcast was talking up a couple minor league veterans and comparing the guy they got from Seattle to the Royals Dyson I think during their World Series runs.

I don't think there's much argument that Clevinger and Bieber are better pitchers than Berrios right now, but I think a good argument can be made that Plesac and this Cyvale guy are pitching better than Berrios currently. Plus Cleveland has Kluber. Cleveland has scary depth with their pitching.

Cleveland has arguably 4 starters better than our ace

yeah , not really even an argument , for years the Twins have played down the importance of a high quality pitching staff. If they make the playoffs it is obvious that they don’t have the pitching required to compete in playoff baseball.

Did buxton and Cruz mean this much to this offense? What a dreadful performance

I think that they meant a lot, especially Cruz. And Buxton's speed and defense are elite.

That said, other players need to step up.
