And we gave up Lewin Diaz? I have no hope for this FO.

Honestly, I have never heard of Lewin Diaz before tonight. I'm sure you all will laugh me to scorn but honestly, I've not heard anything about him. And I'm not a casual fan, by any means. I never miss a game.

We got back a pitching prospect that's arguably a wash with Diaz.

When does the young pitcher need to be added to the 40?

He was arguably our best 1st base prospect. He was shredding AA

The great myth of this year is that the Twins have been playing poorly since early June. That's not really the case. I don't think I have ever seen a team do what Cleveland has done in these last two months. It's Cleveland, not the Twins.

25-23 since June 1st (assuming we lose this game which is still TBD)

84 win pace

There was no guarantee that Diaz would ever amount to even a marginal big league player. Plus, he plays a position where we have plenty of other potentially viable options. Based on the proposed trade pieces, I don't view this as all that bad of a deal.

Romo has a 7.9 K/9 and a 1.2 WHIP and is 36 years old. We gave up a great prospect for an aging pitcher with mediocre stats. Same old same old.

Looks like we got a solid pitcher prospect that can bring the heat for him. We have glaring holes in pitching in our system and several great prospects in the infield.

"Great" prospect is your subjective opinion.

Certainly no respected national publication feels that way about him.

Romo is also among the league leaders in least hard contact allowed, and lowest exit velocity.

K/9 is important for some pitchers. Romo has always done well by inducing soft contact.

The reason I point out the 7.9 K/9 is that it's at his lowest in his career. His 1.2 WHIP is among the highest of his career. I don't like the trade at all.

I know being just one game ahead of Cleveland is not a good look... but it's not like the Twins have been terrible. We are just 3 games behind the Yankees for the #1 seed in the AL - so if the Twins can take advantage of the easiest schedule in the MLB, they could definitely be the #1 seed. Of course, Cleveland's playing so well they will be in contention for it too, though I expect them to cool off against better competition.

I have to say that I don't understand all the whining.

We didn't get a 24-year-old Sandy Koufax for Joe Schlabotnik. Let's get realistic about what we can get for what we are willing to give. If we give up Lewis or Kirilloff, then I understand the grief.

We got a veteran relief pitcher who has been very effective this season for someone who is probably a marginal major leaguer at a highly replaceable position. And we got a pitching prospect who doesn't have to be protected on the 40-man roster for a couple more years. What's not to like?

We have been a less than .500 team since June. So I guess not terrible, just not better than average. And this is the easy part of the schedule, the White Sox. So very disappointing to see them lose focus and seem dull today. They look pretty bad this afternoon. Errors. Leaving the bases loaded. That is what is not a good look.

Schoop = disinterested at the plate and in the field = Everyday Arraez

Yep.

I get that Baldelli's "thing" is to rotate everyone and give plenty of days off. And I respect that.

But, our lead is all but gone. It's time to start running the best guys out there every night.
