USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 It really isn’t. The way I see it is you can only take care of the things you can control. Man has absolutely no control over climate change like the Twins have no control over all star selections.losing a series, in the middle of the season, has no bearing on whether Dick should be whining about AS selections.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Well, I see Duffey is back to his old self. Let's see if Palka and his beyond-embarrassing .026 batting average will come through here.

LVTwinsfan Verified Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 losing a series, in the middle of the season, has no bearing on whether Dick should be whining about AS selections.yeah well I disagree
bighat Verified Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 The "It's Time to Trust Tyler Duffey" article didn't age well. That said, bad days happen. Unfortunately for the Twins, if they don't rally today they're looking at losing 3 out of 4 with a monster list of opponents coming up: At OaklandVs. TexasAt ClevelandVs MetsVs. OaklandVs. Yankees Yikes. The Mets are the worst opponent, but that series is only a 2-gamer. July's looking like a grind.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Duffey is who we thought he was.Well, he's looked a lot better than he was the past two seasons with the improved fastball. One bad outing does not make a bad reliever, but he doesn't have a track record to back up his recent accomplishments.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 yeah well I disagreejust for clarity, if the Twins were leading this game, you'd be ok with it?
ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Well, I see Duffey is back to his old self. Let's see if Palka and his beyond-embarrassing .026 batting average will come through here.I had to look it up. While Palka has only about 50 plate appearances, the lowest batting average ever with at least 100 plate appearances occurred in 1883 when a guy with a normal-ish name hit .120. A guy with an odder NAME is ranked 6th. In 1917, Pickles Dillhoerfer hit .144.
LVTwinsfan Verified Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 just for clarity, if the Twins were leading this game, you'd be ok with it?maybe I don’t know. I do know that Bremers job is to do the game. As far as I m concerned the allstar game is a useless sideshow, And obviously you have an issue with my opinion so I’m guessing this isn’t over
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 We are pretty good at hitting home runs immediately after our bullpen gives up a bunch of runs.
LVTwinsfan Verified Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 We are pretty good at hitting home runs immediately after our bullpen gives up a bunch of runs.yeah but you have to have a bullpen to win consistently, you can’t hit enough home runs to overcome a lousy bullpen
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 yeah but you have to have a bullpen to win consistently, you can’t hit enough home runs to overcome a lousy bullpen My comment was meant as a passive aggressive pot shot at the bullpen.
ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 My comment was meant as a passive aggressive pot shot at the bullpen.Passive aggressive potshot - the best kind to leaven the mood.
LVTwinsfan Verified Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 My comment was meant as a passive aggressive pot shot at the bullpen.mine too, Maybe bit more aggressive, home runs sell tickets, pitching wins championships
bighat Verified Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Sano with a single to the opposite field! Yeah!
ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Sano single (!?)And the other way!!!
LVTwinsfan Verified Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Sano single (!?)another all star snub
ashbury Verified Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Well, he's looked a lot better than he was the past two seasons with the improved fastball. One bad outing does not make a bad reliever, but he doesn't have a track record to back up his recent accomplishments. What the track record is, unfortunately, is inconsistency. Some games, he just doesn't bring his good stuff to the mound. I'm sure it's a mystery to his coaches - it's got to be a mystery to him too. It has to be frustrating to stand there on the mound in that situation, seemingly like one of those bad dreams where you are naked in public. Still, in terms of trust for the player, it is what it is. He's a long way from earning it.
jz7233 Provisional Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Schoop, yeesh.Schoop hardly does anything when there is a runner on base.
drock2190 Verified Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Colome has been insanely luckily with balls in play. When I saw his numbers I thought he must be a strikeout machine but that's not the case.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Much like Duffey, Magill hasn't shown enough to be trusted, but shows flashes that make you want to see more.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 On top of the Twins being really good, teams are also just handing us wins for the fun of it.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 8.0 games ahead on July 1 Not too shabby!
