Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 I've seen Porcello pitch maybe 5,627 times now. Every time I watch him... He just looks hittable. Every single time I watch him. It's also shocking that he's only 30 since it seems like he has been pitching for 30 years. Started game 163 in ‘09. It has been a while

That’s the context against which you evaluate post season pitching...it’s no different with Houston, NYY, Dodgers.

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Started game 163 in ‘09. It has been a while Kubel took him deep. Kubel is watching this game and saying: "Porcello is only 30"?
PDX Twin Verified Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Thanks Jose. I've almost forgotten the first inning. Now if only the scorekeeper would ...

Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Well this has been a regrettable first trip through the order
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Now if only the scorekeeper would ... Farris Bueller could dial that thing back.
snotboogie Verified Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Farris Bueller could dial that thing back. Or Marty McFly.
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Doesn't the home plate umpire seem rather.....small? Leon on his knees is almost as tall as he is.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 I swear to god someone on here yesterday said pitching is becoming less important in the postseason Whoever it was... probably meant starting pitching. Pitching in general will be perpetually important.
PDX Twin Verified Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Well, at least at this rate Porcello will only be able to go 11 or 12 innings tonight before he runs up his pitch count.
Danchat Verified Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Clearly I was misremembering things when it came to the Twins beating up on Porcello. Maybe I was thinking of Chris Sale...

The are very good but we've held our own against TB, and Astros too.

But He still looks hittable even as he struck out 5 batters in a row.
twinssporto Verified Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Can anyone name a starting pitcher that absolutely dominated the Twins lineup this year? Like dominate over 8-9 innings? Just curious...
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Whoever it was... probably meant starting pitching. Pitching in general will be perpetually important. Really doesn’t make much sense to me. If your starters stink and struggle to get even 5 innings, that’s a whole lot of high pressure outs to get in the postseason. Granted, even the best pitchers arent going to go 7 or 8 innings, but still. And of course our problem is that we have neither a dominant bullpen or a dominant starting staff so it’s a moot point

Just curious... Off the top of my head. Trevor Bauer... maybe first series of the year. He may not have went 8 or 9 but he we didn't look like we were going to touch him.

And of course our problem is that we have neither a dominant bullpen or a dominant starting staff so it’s a moot pointI totally disagree with the starting staff. However, regarding our lineup, this offense has eaten up 4 Cy Young award pitchers this year already. Name a pitcher that has dominated this lineup this year? Maybe for 5,6 or 7 innings but we end up getting the reliever later in the game. Not convinced this lineup will get blown away by some great 1-2 combo in NY, TB or Houston.

Average velocity but very good control and location with the fastball that sets up the plus offspeed stuff with the same arm speed and angle. If he looks hittable to the fans of the Twins, who he's dominated in his 6 starts against, imagine how inexplicable his successful career is to the fans who watch him when he's just Average Rick.

bighat Verified Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Berrios deserves better. Porcello throws batting practice to most teams, time for the Twins to catch up to this washed up bum here in the bottom of the 5th!
