PDX Twin Verified Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 I"m appreciating the comments of Jacque Maurice tonight. He might know a thing or two about pitching, and he's much more informative than BB.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Really doesn’t make much sense to me. If your starters stink and struggle to get even 5 innings, that’s a whole lot of high pressure outs to get in the postseason. Granted, even the best pitchers arent going to go 7 or 8 innings, but still. And of course our problem is that we have neither a dominant bullpen or a dominant starting staff so it’s a moot point Take a look at how the Brewers handled their pitching staff in the playoffs last year. They didn't let their starters stink and struggle for 5. Wade Miley led the team in innings pitched throwing 14.2 Innings making a total of 4 starts. 2 Earned runs 0.95 WHIP. The Brewers played 10 playoff games... Led the all post season teams in Team ERA with a 2.40 ERA facing the Rockies and Dodgers.
70charger Verified Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Jose Berrios is good at pitching.
oldguywithanitch Verified Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 One outing in 70 games ain't bad...I'll play those stats all the way to the end. I thought Davies of the Brewers looked damn good against us.
twinssporto Verified Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Glad Berrios who wouldn't even rate as a #2 starter for most teams looks ok tonight... Sarcasm
bighat Verified Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Maybe this team misses Buxton, offensively. Need a spark here tonight! Nice job by Cron....let's go!
twinssporto Verified Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 I thought Davies of the Brewers looked damn good against us.He did a nice job pitching 6 innings and giving up 5 hits and no runs. Brewers still lost the game.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 He reminds me a little bit of Radke and maybe Tapani. Average velocity but very good control and location with the fastball that sets up the plus offspeed stuff with the same arm speed and angle. If he looks hittable to the fans of the Twins, who he's dominated in his 6 starts against, imagine how inexplicable his successful career is to the fans who watch him when he's just Average Rick. Everything just looks like fastball variations. The One is straight a little... This sinks a little... this one slides a little... this one runs a little. Yeah I get that he mixes it up... but everything he throws is just a little.
snotboogie Verified Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Ok fearsome Twins lineup. Do something.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 I thought Davies of the Brewers looked damn good against us.Ol tommy Milone didn’t do too badly the other day
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Let’s make BP mandatory tomorrow, rocco
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 There’s the 2 runs scored against Verlander in about 16-17 innings this year (so far) I think Cole got us once as well. I don't remember April was such a long time ago.
bighat Verified Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 I know this team doesn't care about advancing runners, and the stats say that it's a waste to try, but it's pretty deflating watching so many baserunners standing on the same base all inning long.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 I think Cole got us once as well. I don't remember April was such a long time ago. Zach eflin, 7 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, April 7 in philadelphia
LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Bremergasm. Not close, Dick That call, translated to football: "Cousins hands off to Cook, he's at the 20, he's at the 21... Cook brought down for a gain of 2...fourth and six, Vikings go three and out."
twinssporto Verified Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 There’s the 2 runs scored against Verlander in about 16-17 innings this year (so far)He had good outings no doubt. Won a game and lost a game to us. .500
bighat Verified Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Just swing at everything and close your eyes! C'mon Rocco, tell these guys to take a few pitches once in a while.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Danny Santana homers, extending Texas lead over Cleveland LOL so much to like about that
twinssporto Verified Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Let’s make BP mandatory tomorrow, roccoI'd prefer them taking grounders tomorrow. I suspect we'll eat up the BP after portabella leaves the game. Hopefully...
jz7233 Provisional Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Porcello might pitch a complete game tonight. 56 pitches through 5.
jz7233 Provisional Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 I'd prefer them taking grounders tomorrow. I suspect we'll eat up the BP after portabella leaves the game. Hopefully...Porcello might not leave the game until it ends.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Whatever else happens tonight, it's been nice watching a game in which the ball and strike calls seem to actually correlate with the location of the pitch as it crosses the plate, instead of having the calls beamed in from aliens in geosynchronous orbit like in the game on Saturday night.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Zach eflin, 7 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, April 7 in philadelphia Oh yeah... I remember that one.
twinssporto Verified Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Porcello might not leave the game until it ends. You could be right. Hopefully this lineup finds its mojo soon. Statistically they should eventually.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Man, we’re gettin the clamps put on tonight
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Whatever else happens tonight, it's been nice watching a game in which the ball and strike calls seem to actually correlate with the location of the pitch as it crosses the plate, instead of having the calls beamed in from aliens in geosynchronous orbit like in the game on Saturday night. Those aliens weren’t even former ballplayers—they were contractors!! That’s what gets me
LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Porcello might pitch a complete game tonight. 56 pitches through 5. Not only that, but if this were a four game series 20 years ago the Twins should be worried that the Sox might go all Tim Wakefield on them and start Porcello again on getaway day.
