Parker with a pretty awful debut for the Twins. I really think Minnesota is a competent reliever (or two) from having a bullpen capable of reliably winning close games.

After the draft we should sign Kimbrel!

Seeing Odirizzi fan 11 against a decent lineup is the next best thing to a win.

That should have been a bunting situation.

I agree...a bunt is not always and automatically a bad play. Based on how Max has swung it today, and based on the lefty-lefty matchup and game situation, bunt would have been a good play (with the disclaimer that my memory fails me in trying to remember if Max is one of the 'modern' guys that have never bunted, never practiced it, and don't know how).

 

Tough game for Rocco overall, IMO. He's going to be learning on the job some, obviously.

Kepler isn't seeing the ball well. Why not use your larger than normal bench to pinch hit? I think there's a guy available that makes solid contact and never strikes out....

Two games into the season and I’m already mad.

 

Besides the obvious wild pitches, I was screaming “BUNT!” at my radio to Kepler. I can’t believe you wouldn’t try to sacrifice Buxton, the fastest guy in baseball, over to 3rd.

Bad game for the offense. Parker with a meltdown. Kepler off to a terrible start. Rocco with some headscratching decisions in pressure situations (should have PH for Kepler, didn't PR for Cruz right away for some reason).

 

Odorizzi looked awesome. Overall the game oscillated between "boring", "frustrating", and "disappointing".

Long season so I guess you can't pinch hit for your leadoff man in the second game but, if you're not going to bunt, I'd sure like to see Willians get a shot there.

There are players you can't punch hit for. Kepler has not yet achieved that status.
