ashbury Verified Member Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 At 7.5 pitches per out, were Odo to pitch a complete game, that would equal 7.5 x 27! Make that 24. You're falling into the trap of thinking he's pitching to win.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 Are you posting from somewhere in the British Commonwealth tonight?I used to live in a Commonwealth country ... I adapted to certain spellings and they just stuck after I returned home. And I just kind of like how it looks.

Lets see, mental math (I'm sure whoever was at bat when I started this is still at bat) anyway 140+49+ half of 27(13.5). =189...202.5 pitches. Somehow he gets his last out on a balk?Oh, and Old Hoss Radbourn scoffs at your amazement. https://twitter.com/OldHossRadbourn
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 3 divisions have one team with a losing record...2 have 2.we have 4?And the Pirates are above 500, 4th in there division. They are closer to contention win-loss-wise, but have more teams to... contend with. More fun facts. In 1991, the last place team in the west was the California Angels, with a .500 record.
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 Is watching Jake Odorizzi pitch more painful than watching Lance Lynn pitch or is that just me? Based on these comments, you wouldn't think he's gone 5 innings with 2 hits, 2 ER, 2 walks, and 8k.

If Stewart had put up Jake's line from tonight on Sunday, he would be announced the next exciting piece for 2019.

Mill1634 Verified Member Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 Great outing from Odo, and nice job by the Duff man to get him there. Think he can be a nice middle reliever if given the chance.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 Yeah, Odorizzi is the new favorite whipping boy now that Lynn and Hughes are gone. If Stewart had put up Jake's line from tonight on Sunday, he would be announced the next exciting piece for 2019.It'd be a pretty big difference because this is Odorizzi's 151st career start and it'd be Stewart's first... huge difference. Odorizzi throws about 20 pitches an inning and guarantees at least 3 innings from the bullpen every time out, while Stewart would have the potential to improve from the start and get better adjusted to MLB hitting.
slash129 Verified Member Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 Can't wait for the day Joe West retires.Yeah, the inconsistency has been pretty bad

Stewart couldn't get those swings and misses in his wildest dreams
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 This evening Buxton was 3 for 5 with a HR and 4 RBIs, and even got an assist. ZERO, ZILCH, NADA strikeouts. Gonsalves had another 6 IP with 3 hits, no runs, 2 BB, 5 Ks. His ERA is now under 3.

Mill1634 Verified Member Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 Would like to see Trevor May being used here over Magill, but not like it matters a lot. Rogers has turned into a real weapon against lefties.

Still, I'd guess the fact that Gonsalves only went 6 innings despite allowing no runs and only allowing five base runners probably means he's still throwing way too many pitches.
tvagle Verified Member Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 He is what we thought we was....Matt Magill - not your high leverage MLB pitcher
tvagle Verified Member Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 Another win for Negativity...now on to FRE...I mean THE Hindenberg 9th
tvagle Verified Member Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 First game in a while I've been able to catch. Let's go Twins! Is this Mitch Garver in disguise?
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 WINNER!!!! Great outing from the bullpen, and Odo. Fantastic to see Sano crush a baseball at target field

Rogers has turned into a real weapon against lefties. He always has been. He owns a career .505 OPS vs LHB. Someone forgot to tell MOY that he doesn’t have a pitch to get quality RHB out.

He could throw a perfect game for all I care, if you're a fan of baseball watching a dude labor inning after inning is as painful as it gets.
