Game Thread: Twins @ Kansas City, 7/21/18 @ 4:15 PM PT (6:15 PM CT)

Yesterday, the game just didn't quite go the way we, as Twins fans, really wanted.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=haWRUpPw_tI

*Teenage girls screaming and fainting at Mr. McCartney. Twins fans groaning and fainting as the Twins lose....okay, maybe a tad overstated.

However, today is a new day of fun, frolics and angst!

*Had to go with the live performance because the marketing video was a bit, shall we say, risqué?

Which brings me to my point, which is, well, I have no real point to make. After all, this is just a game thread and I'm your humble host.

*The future of Twins marketing?

And now for something completely different:

*When in doubt, go with Monty Python! Or, "The Princess Bride." "Spinal Tap?"

Which brings me to thinks that may or may not be worth thinking:

sassypants

Some random observations from last night:

1. Costly error by the Twins.
2. Duffy seems to have, shall we say, issues? But, the man can pitch!
3. Gibson continues to impress.
4. The team kept fighting but fell just a wee bit short.
5. I laughed because KC didn't exactly celebrate the win. It looked like they knew they were lucky to pull out the win.

Play ball!

I hope everyone has a great Saturday and enjoys some baseball. Win or lose, still the greatest sport on the planet.

Some mountaineers might disagree.

As may a few tiddly-winkers.

Hurray for local maxima!

Sport at 11*

*going with the above sources when in doubt seems oxymoronic...

yesterday

all those losses seemed so far away

now i fear they might be here to stay

oh i believe in yesterday

suddenly

it's not the team it used to be
sano and buxton remain absentee
oh, yesterday came suddenly

why they had to go

we all know, we all could say
they did something wrong

now i long for yesterday

yesterday

ball was such an easy game to play
then those two found a place to hide away
oh, i believe in yesterday

My homework today includes hosting a half-hearted half-cleaned apartment open house for half my friends what don't half anything better to do.

Didn't specify a time, so i should be here all day. Which is okay by me if no one shows up and i spend all that time slowly cleaning.

If my homework impacts the fame at all, we half got this already.

Sorry... we have half...

We halve this game in hand!

Noteworthy factoid - Mauer's leadoff double gives him the most doubles in Twins history. And the fact that he scored as a result is a nice bonus!

Joe also said he was going to pull the base out of the dirt, but didn't, so... disappointed

What? Compared to Joe Mauer's stoic self, Joe DiMaggio is Ricky Henderson.

The Twins media department is busy photoshopping this:

Wow, Spy mad internet skills are faster than my mundane composing skills. Still, all roads lead to Ricky, don't they. . Well, at least we stoic but proud Twins fans got the anti-Ricky bragging rites.

Let’s hope that watching this game doesn’t turn into a hard day’s night...

Kirby Puckett was a great doubles hitter. Today, I am also a guy who hit quite a few doubles.

And tomm, at least we get Odorizzi to see if he can throw more pitches per inning than Lynn, Players gotta hate playing behind both of them, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I always find it amazing how often batters will squat down to watch pitches that are low and then see the pitch called a strike.  Why not just maintain your normal batting stance instead of helping the other team?
