Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 Who could have foreseen giving up 5 runs in the first would come back to bite us? USAFChief, ashbury, Circus Boy and 2 others 5
mickeymental Verified Member Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 Pretty frustrating loss, did everything necessary to complete the comeback except get that one clutch hitlamest fast words. Nine of twelve and ashbury 2
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 I hate the leadoff 8 batter swinging on 3-1 in the 9thMe too. Maybe the HR yesterday got in his head? Need a baserunner there

Monkeypaws Verified Member Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 BTW, if you have never seen a ball game in Pittburgh, it is well worth it. Puckett34 1
lukeduke1980 Verified Member Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 So we ended up not seeing the Rule 5 guy right?

Monkeypaws Verified Member Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 SABR National Convention is in Pittsburgh this year. Just sayin'...Whoah - Made my first visit last summer. While many rust-belt cities edge toward recovery, Pittsburgh shucked it off and went hi-tech. Beautiful city with lots of cool neighborhoods. Amazingly, there is almost no sprawl. You can be in total forest just a few miles from downtown.
dave_dw Verified Member Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 SSS this year, his righty ERA is 27. In 2016 it was 4.16, in 2015 it was 4.29. You have to go back to 2014 for him to have an ERA under 4 against righties. So perhaps the reason he only faced 31 righties last year is because he's no longer effective against them? And perhaps the Twins should relocate him to Loogyville BEFORE it's necessary, rather than after? Duke came back from Tommy John last year and didn't throw his first pitch until late-July.Entering today's game, righties have a .236 AVG and .328 OBP against him in his career as a reliever. His ERA against RHH as a RP in 2016 was 2.94 and it was 2.78 in 2014. Although, I'm not totally sold on ERA vs handed batter as a useful stat because if a lefty gets on and a right hits him in, I don't understand how that counts as an earned run against either LHH or RHH without counting against the other. snap4birds 1

I'm looking forward to seeing a much better overall city this year. Monkeypaws 1
gocgo Verified Member Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 I think we need to get used to close losses and competitive games. With the talent on this team, I see us battling in every game. I think we will have some blowout wins and some tough, tight losses. Remember, if you go .500 on the road and .667 at home, you are having a great year. Puckett34 and Nine of twelve 2

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 So we ended up not seeing the Rule 5 guy right? playing with 24 players is the new efficiency in april and may, apparently.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 Remember, the Twins were better on the road than at home last year.Unlikely to repeat itself. I'll take the odds of improving at home and being average on the road.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 Is this a typo, or did you mean to spell it like that? If you meant to do that, I think you've spent too much time with Pokemon. I freely admit i've spent too much time with pokemon, although i don't think that says much oher than that is a very easy threshold to attain. No, by and large i've been getting better at noticing my more creative spelling techniques. That one just got through me... Thanks for pointing them out. I kinda like it, as it rhymes with the big cat.
laloesch Verified Member Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 Hate to say it but that one missed called strike may have cost Lynn 4 runs....well, that and the 3 walks. I see the prevailing opinion of the day here is that Lynn is a dud and shouldn't have been signed. I don't usually blame umps but Chris Conroy blew three or four strike calls that could have made a kept that grand slam from happening. Sorry. Jerr and gocgo 2
