Doubles Verified Member Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 I'm pretty sure nobody wants to know any more specifically than that.Errrr, you're probably right. Actually, ain't no probably. But it was The Duke, ya know. ashbury and LaBombo 2
Monkeypaws Verified Member Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 Buxton is almost too quick on the gassers - he has hit at least 6-7 fastballs foul down the 3rd baseline today, and smoked a few fair. Contact is good - bat control comes next. ashbury 1

woolywoolhouse Verified Member Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 Ten walks by Twins pitchers in 7+ innings of work. If that control is blamed on the cold... then we're in for a lot of walks at Target Field through the first half of April. Jerr and BoofBonser 2
GardyParty Verified Member Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 Well the twins pitchers have walked 10 batters and the twins batters have struck out 10 times this game and "we" still are only down 1 unreal Jerr 1
LaBombo Verified Member Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 But it was The Duke, ya know. Yup. Very big in New York. A - #1, even. Doubles 1

dave_dw Verified Member Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 (edited) Last year Duke had an 8.22 ERA against righties. By all means, keep letting him pitch to righties, I don't see how this could possibly go wrong. He faced 31 total righties last year (as many as batters Berrios faced yesterday alone). Duke has solid numbers against righties in his career as a reliever, I don't think he should buy a house in LOOGY-town just yet. Edited April 2, 2018 by dave_dw ashbury 1
ashbury Verified Member Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 This is an unfounded opinion, and basically mind-reading, but I continue to believe that Sano is averse to getting in front of sharp ground balls. He kind of hesitated on his first step, on that one just now, then when it was clear he couldn't get in front of it, he lunged. He's fine coming in on slow rollers, goes well to his left or right much of the time, and is getting better at popups, but he just seems to not want to get in front of the ball. He couldn't have gotten in front of that one really, but that little hesitation bugged me. LaBombo, BoofBonser, Jerr and 1 other 4
BoofBonser Verified Member Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 11 walks... how is this even a game? LaBombo 1
woolywoolhouse Verified Member Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 Eleven walks! Ironically, those 11 walks are giving me a nosebleed in frustration. USAFChief, Jerr, Puckett34 and 2 others 5

Cap'n Piranha Verified Member Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 He faced 31 total righties last year (as many as batters Berrios faced yesterday alone). Duke has solid numbers against righties in his career as a reliever, I don't think he should buy a house in LOOGY-town just yet. SSS this year, his righty ERA is 27. In 2016 it was 4.16, in 2015 it was 4.29. You have to go back to 2014 for him to have an ERA under 4 against righties. So perhaps the reason he only faced 31 righties last year is because he's no longer effective against them? And perhaps the Twins should relocate him to Loogyville BEFORE it's necessary, rather than after? USAFChief 1
