Squirrel Community Moderator Posted December 27, 2017 Posted December 27, 2017 Who has seen what? I’m still hoping to catch Three Billboards and Lady Bird. And then there’s a whole bunch of new ones on my list. But I did see The Greatest Showman last night. LOVED it, through and through. LOVED it. nicksaviking, Vanimal46, glunn and 1 other 4

LOVED it.I also saw The Greateat Showman and, like you, I loved it. The Darkest Hour is next on my list. Hope it is better than Dunkirk which so many seemed to love and which I found a boring mess. Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 (edited) Good to know about the Greatest Showman. My family's going to the movies this weekend and we're deciding between that and Three Billboards. Edited December 28, 2017 by Vanimal46
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 If you don't mind venturing off to Netflix movies for a hot minute... If "Bright" with Will Smith pops up on your list, do yourself a favor and skip it. We had to turn it off after 30 minutes it was that bad.

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted December 29, 2017 Author Posted December 29, 2017 Going to see ‘All the Money in the World’ today about the J Paul Getty’s grandson being kidnapped and him not agreeing to pay the ransom. With Christopher Plummer, Michelle Williams (who was also in Greatest Showman) and Mark Wahlberg.

The premise was fun, but the execution was absolutely awful. How in earth did Will Smith get talked into this movie?
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 The Big Sick, on Neflix, is really quite good.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 Saw “Three Billboards” and absolutely LOVED it. Best I’ve seen in a while. Great script, great acting. Vanimal46 1

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted December 29, 2017 Author Posted December 29, 2017 Saw ‘All the Money in the World’ today. Very well done. Not sure it’s an Oscar-worthy movie, but it was well done and entertaining. But Christopher Plummer’s performance is Oscar-worthy. And considering he was a very last-minute replacement ... spectacular.

Ridley Scott and Martin Scorsese are basically my gods. Not only because they make good films but that they have the ability to keep their finger on what makes good entertainment well into their 70s. Ridley Scott just turned 80 years old, for ****'s sake. And Martin Scorsese made his first "kid's film" in his late 60s. It's amazing. Squirrel 1
glunn Community Moderator Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 "Mollie's Game" was really good -- Aaron Sorkin wrote and directed, and the story and dialog are both strong. I also enjoyed "Hostiles", which involves a physical and psychological journey about inhumanity and redemption.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 Just saw previews for "The Post" with Tom Hanks. Definitely on the list of movies to see. USAFChief 1

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted January 3, 2018 Author Posted January 3, 2018 Curious to hear what others thought about the shape of water...It looks intriguing and has gotten some good reviews ... have you seen it or just asking because you are also intrigued? I saw the new Jumanji movie. Definitely not award-winning, but fun and had it’s funny moments, especially thanks to Jack Black and Kevin Hart. Just a fun romp in a make-believe jungle. glunn 1

Reviews were immaculate, but I had some problems with it. For starters, it’s about a lady who gets...”romantic” with a fish...type guy...thing. Lotta people tend to like right past that.
ericchri Provisional Member Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 Just took my son (12 going on 13) to 'Jumanji' this weekend and it was fun. I think Kevin Hart/The Rock falls in his wheelhouse for humor, he watched 'The Agency' on a plane ride a year or so back and was giggling the entire time, so when the trailers for 'Jumanji' came out I knew we were going to it. glunn and Squirrel 2
