Wow the quote by Provus on the radio:

"That was a bad swing.  Kenny looked like he was swatting at a wasp with a rolled up newspaper."

We really really need this game.  Not sure I want Boshers in a game that we really really need...or the rest of the bullpen for that matter minus a couple guys

We need ALL the games we can possibly get because we've blown so many that we should have won. After we swept the suddenly red hot d-backs, we've gone 8-8 against the white sox (8 games), blue jays (3), royals (3) and rays (2). This stretch of games HAD to have 10-12 wins.

Thanks for reiterating the same stat for the 3rd straight (or maybe 4th straight) day.  It's September -- everyone has to win every game no matter the strength of the opponent.  Games these last 2 weeks against the alleged 'dregs' are no different than the ones they'll play against the Yankees and Indians later in the month.  Baseball ain't like other sports where your talent can force their will on the opponent like basketball or football.  A supposed 'weak' team can have a hot starter (Odorizzi last nite, Shields in Chicago two weeks ago) throw a great game or a hitter have a great game.

Sorry my post clogged up the forum. I'll refrain from posting facts in the future and ignore the team's struggles so the 5 people posting here right now aren't bothered.

PS: this is the second time I posted the above. I've gone overboard, I know!

Twins fan of the game is a man with no teeth.

Oh right, this game is in Florida.

Carry on.

Lead off man on. Now, no bunting, let's swing the bats and score some runs.

In this case, you get a run score and a bunt!

Is Mauer's hit streak on the line in this game? He was intentionally walked and is seventh up with six outs to go.

"According to the Official Baseball Rules, such a streak is ended when a player has at least 1 plate appearance and no hits. A streak shall not be terminated if all official plate appearances result in a base on balls, hit by pitch, defensive interference or a sacrifice bunt."

The attendance for this game is 7,185.  How does Tampa Bay still have a team?

Worst atmosphere I have ever experienced for a baseball game.  Give those Tampa teams credit for being good for years with so little support.

Please send Tampa Bay Rays franchise to Nashville, TN.

Sincerely,

Nashville, TN

While I agree with the sentiment and I know their attendance sucks, the residents of Florida have something a bit more important to worry about at the moment.

So in other words, streaks only end if a player makes an unintentional out.

Thank you. So, a 1-2-3 9th wouldn't be bad in terms of his hit streak.

Also, what kind of manager would intentionally walk a player to end his hit streak. Or, how badly would a player like Ty Cobb need to be hated for a manager want to do that?
