jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 I was just thinking about his approach during his rookie year when he went into so many deep counts. Now, it's like he doesn't want to take a walk. Maybe he's frustrated at being pitched around? You could be right. Sano thinking about reaching 40 homers is almost as bad as staring at the left field wall before the pitch. He's got to take those walks, even if it means he won't reach 40 dings. Let's hope it goes in cycles. The hitting coach will tell him it's time to harvest some walks for a few games, then get some pitches down the middle to hit.
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Gibson gets through 7. I must be dreaming. Thanks for the help, Mahtook .Gibson has been attacking the zone with a great mix of pitches. That allows him to throw an occasional hook out wide for an awkward flail. When you've got 'em swinging, that's when you throw 'em junk.
PDX Twin Verified Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 The Tigers look to me like a team that's waiting to lose. The managed to hold on last night behind a veteran hitting a couple of home runs, but tonight? Either Gibson is having his best game ever (possible) or the Tigers are just mailing it in now that they are behind.
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Sooooo.....Granite doesn't want to go back to Rochester huh?
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Woah... who is this imposter pretending to be Gibson... for the record, he/she/it can stay.
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 I like Granite's nice, flat swing. Reminds me a little of Mike Redmond. A swing like that can get you a lot of low line drives, and a good batting average.
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Woah... who is this imposter pretending to be Gibson... for the record, he/she/it can stay.Who knew that invading, body snatching aliens loved baseball, and are Twins fans to boot.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 I'm told I'm a bit too condescending. That means I talk down to people.
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Gibson steered that last pitch to walk Kinsler. Running out of gas.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 For the record, as Gibson was pitching to Presley, I was thinking to myself, "This is really, really, stupid. He's gotten you into the 8th. Don't be stupid." Bingo, GRD.
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Very good 7 innings from Kyle Gibson. Progress. I believe what we just saw was about as good as Gibson gets. Can he do it again?
Blake Verified Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Good job, Mr. Gibson. I was sorry to see Gibson get lost as he entered unknown territory. Hopefully, we can see this Gibson a few more times over the next couple of years.
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Let's face it, he'd been much better since his demotion/promotion. Not perfect, but much better.

jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Has Taylor Rogers had his 16th birthday? He looks like a high school sophomore.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 That's why you don't bring in a left hander, Paul. This inning is largely on the manager. He lets Gibson face the LH hitting Presley, then brings in Taylor to face Upton.
PDX Twin Verified Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 They seem to be trying to score at the moment, and I wish they were mailing it in. Yup. Who woke them up?
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 No matter how hard I said, "curve, curve, damn you," Upton's drive didn't curve enough. Boy did he enjoy that pitch. At least the bags are now clean. So very clean...
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Ah nuts! Knew as soon as they talked about Roger's great streak something bad was going to happen. (Sigh)

glunn Community Moderator Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Hopefully this is all just to make the game more exciting before we score a bunch in the bottom of the 8th.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Dozier's arm is worse than last year.
snepp Verified Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 I'm stepping outside for a moment, agitation level rising far too quickly.
glunn Community Moderator Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Dozier's arm is worse than last year. And he hesitated a little with the throw.
