He's crippled up. Like David Ortiz last year, if he went solely by what his legs told him, he'd retire.

 

It's mind boggling that Pujols has 4 seasons left on his contract that are all #27M or more a year.

Escobar is a proven major league baseball player. You underrate him as a defender and 2 years and the year before he was a super solid offensive contributor as our starting SS. Escobar is not in the least a problem on this ball club. His numbers will equalize, he has already contributed with some big hits. He has HR pop in his bat along with EBH capability. I believe most clubs would be happy to have him as there UT guy.

I was in no means saying Escobar should be off the club or anything. I actually like him as a UTL  infielder even though he has been scuffling as of late. I was more praising Adrianza's glove work in the field which I have been very impressed by. We aren't going to find a better utility infielder then Esco. I think I got misunderstood.

Escobar certainly isn't lighting the world on fire this year, but he has some proven offensive abilities. He's had stretches where he has been downright good at the plate.

 

Add that to being a switch hitter, the fact that he'll play off the bench without complaint, and play nearly anywhere defensively, and I'm not sure what more you can ask for out of a utility guy. I don't think Jose Altuve or Carlos Correia will be available anytime soon....

There SS was down as well...it's not like they were doing anything to him. Not sure why that matters. Probably asking if he was fine.

After the bad slide the prior inning and then that I'm not to worried about the guy who caused Escobar's injury flopping around like a soccer player.

he didn't do anything intentional..they made incidental contact...their SS knocked the ball down like any other middle infielder covering the bag on a steal is taught to do. Nothing was done on purpose.

Every CFer makes that play against Cron, but it sure is nice having confidence in our guy to make it a no drama play.

It seems like Kintzler can never have a worry free save opportunity. Granted he's been successful, but I'd really like to see more stress free 9th innings.

Interesting note from the Braves game: Danny Santana went 4-5 (1 HR 2 2B), with 3 runs and 3 RBI. He was also awarded NL MVP during the 7th inning stretch.
