snap4birds Verified Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Has anyone asked Buck Showalter his opinion about the Twins in the last 3 days? Was that the biggest jinx in team history?
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 And the wheels on the bus come falling off, falling off...I knew there was a reason i walked to school...
Kwak Verified Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 I return from lunch,,,and this! It seems presley hasn't changed from Monday. Breslow is about the same--but now he has an OF who actually catches the ball.
TonyInOmaha Provisional Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 No, but they're bringing on their third pitcher already. Two of the three relievers that pitched the 8th Monday are among the first guys into this game. Does Paul even realize that he's got other guys out there? Just curious, who else to you think he should have gone to?
PopRiveter Verified Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Just curious, who else to you think he should have gone to?Trevor Hildenberger? Alan Busenitz?
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Just curious, who else to you think he should have gone to?Duffy to start with. After that, I would have stayed away from the three guys that pitched the 8th on Monday because none of them had anything. Give them some rest. Pressly in particular.
MangLitch Verified Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 This three game stretch has to be some sort of record for futility.... 6.2 innings - 22 ER - 29.7 ERA Wish I could say I never saw a bullpen implosion coming..... See, we didnt need Greg Holland
whydidnt Verified Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 2 things: 1. Most of us saw this coming. Just painful to see it blowup to this extreme. 2. Is there anything more demoralizing to the hitters than what's happened these last few days? At some point they are going to get frustrated that battling back seems to be a 1 step forward 2 steps back deal.
TwinsCD Verified Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 I would be perfectly fine if I didn't see Ryan Pressly in a Twins uniform after today.
mickeymental Verified Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 now i get it -- you need a seven-run lead to let a pitcher make his major-league debut.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 I would be perfectly fine if I didn't see Ryan Pressly in a Twins uniform after today. He's been terrible.
wavedog Verified Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Can we just forfeit now and head on out to LA? Is there a point to continue this game to see if they can get 20 runs against us?
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Imagine how horrid this series might have been if the Twins had not sent out Santana and Berrios and the Astros had sent out Kuechel and McCullers...
wavedog Verified Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 now i get it -- you need a seven-run lead to let a pitcher make his major-league debut.I was about to add the same thing - Houston doesn't have a problem putting in a call-up with a 7-run lead. Let's see how it turns out.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 He is single handidly tanking the Twins season. Want a saboteur on your team add a Pressly and put him out to start an inning. I think the guy that keeps putting him in the position to tank the season owns some blame as well. At this point, I don't know how Pressly can be trusted. Send him down to AAA to get things worked out.

TwinsCD Verified Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 When our batters go to the mall, they don't ever buy anything, right?
OldTimeTwinkie Provisional Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Would rather have seen Vargas pitch

Most pitchers only throw with one hand... If it took both hands, then i'd be worried. Or at least perplexed.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 I wonder when the last time Wheeler pitched on consecutive days was.
rghrbek Verified Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Lot's of people on other threads wanting Wheeler to get his fair chance. A career 4.56 era at AAA, and a large sample size....How is he our choice to be up here? Mop up duty long relief? Andrew Albiers where have you gone? Heildenburg pitched 2 innings last night and I think he has done that more than a few times...
MangLitch Verified Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 When our batters go to the mall, they don't ever buy anything, right? Clever. I feel inclined to answer this, but I feel as if it deserves to stand alone. Respect

It's the fact that he's the only one getting the call up that bothers me.

But why he wasn't sent down after last night is perplexing to say the least.
gocgo Verified Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 I get the animosity toward Pressly, but he looked unhittable against Baltimore. I gotta figure something is physically not right with the guy. Belisle never looked like he had the stuff and I've always considered Breslow the junk baller that takes one for the team in a blowout.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 I agree with you, that Molitor shares some blame and so does the two pitching coaches. This isn't right what these guy's have been doing to the team the last three days. I see it as an ongoing issue since Molitor became the manager, but these past three days have been extraordinary even for them.

At some point the FO really has to be taken to task, if this is where we are at...needed to have a better plan.
