And Molitor just did a sacrifice, after four consecutive base hits.  I really, truly, just don't get this guy.

I am not listening, actually forgot about it. Your post is at 12:34, so up 2-0? Early? And he sacrificed? If next you tell me he PH Robby, I am heading to the SW corner of moms basement!

Star Trib headline Star Date 9/16/16. " MN TWINS PLAY BEST GAME OF YEAR". Sub heading: "Post game a stunning announcement"

Following the game, manager Paul Molitor announces his retirement! "My work here is done" proclaimed Molitor. He went on to blah blah blah.........

Star Date 9/18/16. Jim Pohlad names Paul Molitor GM of MN Twins!

He had Centeno sacrifice and it lead to 2 runs which we would not have scored.  Could have had Centeno sac again next at bat but didn't and Centeno hit into a dp.

He sacrificed in the second inning? After four hits? Against a terrible pitcher? Cannot wait for him to be gone.

Snap judgement not listening.  It was the right thing to do.

And never in the second inning, play for a run with this pitching staff. Ugh. I am not of the never sacrifice crowd, but it should be reserved for certain instances, mostly late, in a close game. If you can follow woth the right hitter. Not just willy nilly. One never knows, when Centeno bunted the first time he could have hit a double instead, and still DP'es the next time!

Santiago may have a rotation spot now. His last three outings have been lights-out.

Meh.  10 walks to 8 K's in his last 3 starts which totaled 19.1 innings.  I'm still not impressed with him.

Or, he hits into the dp, and the following popup ends the inning.  Pelfrey is pitching, poor it on and play for 2 more runs, he's on a pitch count. I sac every time in that situation.

Or he doubles into the gap and the route is on.

Reasonable people can disagree, I guess.  But i NEVER sacrifice in the second inning.  Never.  Depending on the pitcher, possibly even not with a pitcher up.  Moving a runner(s) up one base at the expense of an out doesn't make sense.

If, late in a game, it appears one run will very likely win the game, and the hitters due up and pitchers available to the opposition both make sense, OK.  I can see it.

Otherwise?  No.

You are assuming Centeno would have made an out without advancing the runners, but even then the runner on second would have scored on Dozier's single if everything else happened the same way.  The way Pelfrey was throwing, I like Centeno's chances of getting a hit there.  It's the second inning, the pitcher's on the ropes.  Let's hit him hard.

That's fine, you all think what you want, but I'd of done the same thing, so fire me!  And it worked.

Sorry. I was factoring in the Twins differential when I said "lights out."
