stringer bell Verified Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 BTW (this is for Shane) excellent pinch-running by Santana today. edit: Bird Dog beat me to the spot.
SirLoin Verified Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Everything's coming up rosy for Eddie! (Said in John Sterling voice....)
SirLoin Verified Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 It's a H.R. for Herr Kepler! (Also in John Sterling voice)
Circus Boy Verified Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Wow, where has this pitching been all season? Add a few clutch hits and we're in bidness. Hoping for another Twins win and no jinx.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 I don't really have the desire of a repeat of last nights 9th. Just shut 'em down and lets go home.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 A little drama again in the bottom of the ninth?

SirLoin Verified Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 A little drama again in the bottom of the ninth? To quote Bremer from last night...."As long as Kinsler doesn't bat...."
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Kintzler is getting as bad as his bullpen coach was...
NoCryingInBaseball Verified Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Winnah Winnah Chicken Dinnah!!
HitInAPinch Verified Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 There, I took care of it for ya
Blake Verified Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 The shot of Kintzler at the end was priceless. You could almost see Kintzler sag with fatigue after that nail biter.
rghrbek Verified Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 trade Kintzler now, I mean while I am typing this, before any GM can look at the box scores of his innings...he's like 6 for 6 right?
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Despite that the first 3 I thought of after posing that question were Verlander, Halladay, and Greinke. I know I have a short memory. And a bit ALC biased haDid you ever look up what the actual answer is?
Willihammer Provisional Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Did you ever look up what the actual answer is?No but now I'm curious.By fWAR its 1. Felix2. Verlander3. Halladay4. Mussina5. Lackey(!)6. Pedro7. Weaver8. Colon9. Shields10. Freddy Garcia (!)But WAR's cumulative so Verlander and Felix naturally have the edge. On a WAR/Inning basis (which probably lines up closely to FIP) the top RH SPs since 2000 are: 1. Pedro2. Halladay3. Kluber4. Darvish5. Mussina6. Schilling7. Verlander8. Felix9. Hudson10. Clemens By ERA:1. Pedro2. Felix3. Tanaka4. Cobb (what happened to him?)5. Iwakuma6. Darvish7. Gray8. Hudson9. Halladay10. Kluber

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Freddy Garcia! That's a name that hasn't crossed my mind in a good 5-6 years... John Lackey had a good run with the Angels too. I shouldn't be surprised to see him on Willihammer's list, but I am surprised.

Pardon My Dinger Verified Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Speaking of Tigers, is anyone familiar with Toygers? http://www.pets4homes.co.uk/images/classifieds/2013/11/18/484728/large/toyger-champion-retired-stud-for-sale-528a46d2ab94e.jpgDomesticated cats that look like little Tigers. My college roommate and I were seriously considering buying one for the house when we lived together. I was hoping it would have some wild blood in it, but unfortunately it's just a normal cat with tiger stripes. Toygers are toight.
jimmer Verified Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Did you ever look up what the actual answer is?I think who the top 3 is pretty subjective. Like certain stats the HOF voters look at,, maybe some pitchers rated higher up than better pitchers because of the amount of years pitched during a time span. For me, the best AL RH SPs who spent a good chunk of time in the 17 season span we are talking about is Pedro, Halladay and King Felix. I'm not sure there's an actual right answer in this particular case, but I'm comfortable saying those three.

I think there are a handful of guys that you could basically interchange and get very little disagreement. When talking about a 17 year span though, I tend to look at cumulatively over shorter spans that would take guys like Tanaka out of the discussion simply by sample size.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Toygers are toight. We were convinced at the time Toygers were domesticated mini Tigers, which would have been toight. Unfortunately theyre just domesticated cats made to look like Tigers. Not nearly as toight.
