This reminds me of something

 

True Story -- I was around 22 years old and I was doing radio in a small Minnesota town. I was handling a daily feature called the "Trading Post" People would call in and say... "I've got a Kitchen Table for Sale... Good Condition... I'm asking 5 dollars". And I would repeat it back... OK... A Kitchen Table for sale... Good Condition... 5 dollars seems like a fair price... What Number should they call?:

 

The hour was very popular and it was used to list a lot of farming equipment because... lots of farmers were listening. 

 

Now... I have no idea about farming equipment... so I would be just repeating it like I heard it and I had no idea what I was talking about. 

 

I kid you not... One day... Someone calls up and says... I got some Fence post Holes for Sale... Brand New Condition... 10 Bucks a Piece... 

 

And Yep... I repeated it just like it was normal... OK... This fine gentlemen has some Fence post Holes for sale... Just 10 Bucks... 

 

My boss came into the studio... and stood behind me and waited for me to go to break just so he could look at me for about 15 seconds and then burst into laughter.

I used to volunteer at a community alternative radio station in Duluth. We had a fund-raising marathon going on and one of our announcers was fooled into thanking a listener for making a donation on behalf of the radio station located at UNT (University of Northern Tennessee, which of course does not exist) with call letters beginning with the letter K.
