That's like travelling across the Atlantic and turning around a mile from the Spanish Coast.

Yeah.

Friends i woulda stayed with in the Twin cities had an Aunt pass on this past week.

If i were visiting them, it would be worth missing stuff at home on Sunday.

But i got what i come fer. Minnesota will still be here next time i come this way.

Maybe then the Twins will have a home game as well...

Most people need a big old burley catcher to threaten them... no matter what job needs to be done.

In our family she was just called Mom.

Way to waste a leadoff double!

Try not to think of it as a waste. It's more like a painful but important lesson in situational awareness.

I guess I was jumping to contusions when I suggested amputation.

I think you and Chief were jointly jumping to collusion.

When was the last time the Twins had a player with true awareness of what's going on at all times? Molitor in the 1990's?

Mauer is an excellent baserunner for a big guy. Can't remember the last time he made a mistake on the basepaths.

Well, Arcia is falling back to earth.    Oh, so did Vargas   :th_alc:

When Vargas hits you'll know it...

In fairness, he isn't on base as much any more these days.....

Yea you could be right. Maybe not as a first baseman but he definitely fit the bill during his years catching, for sure, as well as baserunning.

Yeah, kinda looks like the path Vargas was plowing between 2nd and 3rd ...

Also, is that really on Vargas? I think if his first step is back to second he might get nailed there too. Just a crappy place for Santana to hit it.

If you are as lumbering as Vargas you need to be playing careful, station to station baseball. Agreed that the way the ball was hit made it complicated.

Yep. If Vargas plays it safe and the ball goes through, he might even be thrown out at third.

Yeah, but you want him to be thinking about advancing to third on an out.  The problem is Santana hit it hard, right at the SS, who was behind Vargas.

Kid was screwed the second the ball was hit.  If there was ever a time to just lay down a sac bunt, that was it.

Top of the 9th, eh?

What do we do now?

Scoring a run would be nice. 2 would be even better. But I'm not holding my breath. Vargas with the double was probably our chance.

It would have been fun to watch the GLP ground crew work feverishly after the Twins' half of the inning as they tried to repair the giant divot where Lost Vargas reversed course.

He never gets thrown out. That's not quite the same.
