Driving on the Autobahn is quite the experience.  I got to do that a few years ago, but it in an Opal Astra...

Just don't try it in a Trabant.

My adrenaline would be through the roof driving on the autobahn. I'm pretty sure I would also be terrified of changing lanes or making any sudden movements traveling at 131 MPH.

The autobahn is quite the experience, although the whole no speed limit is a bit misleading. There are sections of it that don't have a posted limit but that changes based on traffic flow, it's also only in more sparsely populated areas. 

 

When those no limit areas pop up though, be prepared, if you see a tiny dot in your rear view and are considering passing someone, there is a good chance  you have about 7 seconds to do it before the tiny dot you saw is right behind you!

Fastest I've ever gone on two wheels: 115 mph. 

Fastest I've ever gone on 4 wheels: 125 mph.

 

I prefer the 125 mph on 4 wheels.

For the ERA stat fans:

 

Our pitching staff is dead last in the AL for ERA, and #14 really isn't close.  #14 sits at 4.62, we are at 5.17.

 

Our cracker staff rotation that had so many ML quality pitchers that we couldn't put May in the rotation has an ERA of 5.55.

 

Our relief staff that barely got help in the offseason has an ERA of 4.58.

 

Are there still people who believe this is a well constructed 40 man roster?

True dat.  Technology only carries you so far.  Heh...  I blocked a shot playing hockey in HS, and did my level best to not show how many galaxies I was seeing in my head on the way back to the bench, and hope they thought I was doubled over cuz I was gassed.  It was all I could do to raise my hand and make contact for a couple of high-fives.  Hey, nice block, they said.  Hey, I can't breathe again, forever, was my silent reply.

How did the twins get shafted with a 3 game west coast "road trip"?

Interestingly (to me), when we moved, we found old coasters from my trip to Europe some 30 years ago.....(who knew I collected them, I didn't).

 

I've been grabbing a coaster at most breweries we visit the last couple years, but I didn't remember those old ones. My wife decided to put them on the wall of one of our rooms as a decoration. There was actually a 30 year old one from Shoffenhofer. 

 

edit: man, I took what could have been a nice story, and made it boring......work. sigh.

True story. I was in München during Oktoberfest several years ago. I wasn't there for Oktoberfest but for work and had about 2 hours of free time in total to ... see the city ... so I didn't go. It wasn't exactly close to where I staying or working and is just large and crowded. So, instead, I walked over to the Hofbräuhaus, another Munich institution for a beer and whatever. I don't regret not actually going to Oktoberfest as it truly is just one, large beer garden.

 

Another true story. Another work trip took me to Berlin. We had a day off so some friends/colleagues of mine and I rented a car (a Mercedes, of course, 6-speed manual, don't remember what series) and drove to Dresden. I was behind the wheel driving, on the autobahn, when one of my friends said, "Let's see how fast this will go." He wanted to take a picture of the speedometer, which we switched to mph for this 'experiment,' to send to his brother who was a State Tropper in California. So as I'm gaining speed, he says, "Just push the pedal to the floor," so I did. We topped off at 131mph. There were some cars on the road ahead and they were just coming up too quickly so I slowed down. But because I was only going 85-90mph I need to get out of the left lane. Checked in my rearview mirror, all clear, put my signal on and started to switch lanes when "ZOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!" A car that wasn't there two seconds ago, sped past me on the right. That was it for me. When we get to an Italian themed thread I'll tell you about driving in Italy.

I used to wind my big ol' Magna up going down the Foothill Fwy back in the LA daze.  I'd get around that 115 mark or so, too, until the little shimmy started...

True Story -- When I was younger I was playing catch with my friends in our neighborhood street. We were throwing the balls as high as we could in the air and we'd chase them down. 

 

Neighbor across the street had a fire hydrant in their front yard. Those pointy caps or plugs or whatever they are... well... they are about the right height for a young male such as myself.

What do you do for that?

 

I remember rolling on the ground for awhile and when I finally got to my feet... I remember holding my kidneys because that was where the pain was. Not sure why that happens but that was excruciating and eventually everything goes back to normal. 

 

Anyway... Your Kidneys hurt so much you don't notice any pain at the point of contact.
